Sam Raimi finds more superheroes?

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Thursday, December 07, 2006

According to IGN, Sam Raimi will direct a project which will bring to life several superheroes from Street and Smith Publications.  Characters would include Doc Savage, The Shadow, The Avenger along with other Street and Smith characters.

A screenplay is being written by Siavash Farahani (Ruse) but no plot details are known as of yet.

Very little else is known, but I'm sure we will hear more as Raimi starts doing press for Spider-Man 3.

I don't know if I need to see another film version of The Shadow any time soon, but I'd love to see Raimi's take on Doc Savage. In his prime, Arnold had the physique, but I don't think he could have pulled off the intelligence of "man of bronze."

Well, it only took Raimi nearly 20 years to finally get his hands on The Shadow.

This sounds like bigtime rumor. Until this is confirmed, I'll do my best not to get excited. I'm a big fan of those old pulp characters. The Shadow and Savage were the Batman and Superman of their day.
I'd love to see a really good Shadow portrayed, not that silly Alec Baldwin movie.
He should be dark, gothic and scary. And as for Doc Savage, the Governator is too old and busy for it but have you guys forgotten about the Rock. He's perfect. Already bronzed too.

Don't know how much this will appeal to a modern audience. I guess it will depend on how it is done. If anyone can pull it off, I'm sure Raimi can.

Yesss! I'd love to see any, or even better...ALL the pulp superheros make a much anticipated visit to the big screen. Just please keep them in their eras of the early half of the 20th century. A modern pulp might just suck enough to kill any pulp film franchise before it starts. Go Raimi go!

LXG had potential but was poorly executed, cast, written, so yeah it was a total fart blossom. But, if anybody can do this it's Raimi he has more of a grasp of these characters.
