Sam Raimi has been talking about what he knows regarding the posibility of further SPIDER-MAN movies, though he, as yet, is not involved in them.

While talking to Spider-Man Hype, Raimi spoke of what he knew about potential sequels, saying, "I assume and I think Sony is assuming that this is a character that is so loved by people that they've [Sony] really paid a lot of attention to quality and details of the picture that I believe they're assuming there's going be a few SPIDER-MAN stories. You know, it's existed for thirty-eight years maybe thirty-nine years and it has always been a series of stories and they're in the business of making movies that people like. So, I can only assume, and they've never talked to me about a sequel, that there's going to be sequels to the picture."

When asked where he thought the story of the Webslinger should go next, Raimi pointed out, "Well, I'm not sure it's going to be me..."

When pressed further what he would do with the sequel if it was happening today, Raimi said, "Today, if I were to make the sequel I think it would be an ongoing storyline. I think people, if they like the first picture, which everyone's hoping that they will, they'll have seen Peter Parker move through high school and graduate high school. I think they'd probably be ready to see him start up in college and they've seen a relationship with Mary Jane Watson and it has a particular outcome. They probably want to see the next step or it is going to take an unexpected step with one of the other love interests of Peter Parker. So I think it is going to be a continuation. He's got a relationship with his best friend, Harry Osborn, and that takes a very dramatic turn in the end of the first one that has a lot of pending outcome. So I'm hoping, whether it's me or another director and writer, that they would get these elements effective, they would pick up where the story left them and set the new story from there. So I do think it would be a continuing story."
