Sam Worthington May Lead G.I JOE

No Sam...don't take this movie...you are better than this material!!!

So an Aussie actor is going to star as a "Real American Hero"? heheh

Well, an Aussie (Mel Gibson) played an American in The Patriot and a Scott in Braveheart.

Personally I don't know much about this guy but from the photo he doesn't scream Joe material to me. I grew up watching the original series when it originally aired.

Sam Worthington is an elite actor. As I posted before, he starred in the movie Somersault, and is truly an outstanding presence on screen--think a new Mel Gibson in his younger Road Warrior days.

That said, Sam Worthington is better than a damn G.I. Joe movie!!! I hope he has the courage to turn it down!!!

I guess it doesn't really matter if the guy leading the Joes is an American or not anymore, since according to Paramount, its hard to sell an American hero these days.

I forgot they are dumping the Real American Hero attitude for bigger bucks. This sucks. I am still proud to be an American! America bails everybody's asses out of problems around the world but we get no respect? That's bullshit.

To get respect, you have to give it...and we don't bail other countries out of trouble just to be nice guys, we do it with our own selfish reasons in mind...and everybody knows it--just as our allies and enemies do what they do, for selfish reasons. The difference??? We have more nukes than they do, as well as technology so ahead of everyone else, the secret military is about 50 years ahead of the most advanced technology that we have been told about publicly. And as the big fish, we wish to remain that...out of utter and complete fear of the alternative--and we accomplish that via means of intimidation, and that is just a very sad fact of life--but true.

The real American hero is you. By just not adding to the problems of the world and trying to be a decent person, even when it's easier to do the wrong thing...that makes you a hero. It's a thankless job, and no good deed goes unpunished...but in the end, maybe you'll influence another person, or persons, to pay it forward...still it starts on the individual level, not with crooked governments--especially corrupt governments who stage terrorist attacks in order to bully their own populace(s) to give up their own God given and constitutional freedoms.

Sorry Metalwater. i do not belive your opinion is fact. You ask a soldier if helping others out is for "selfish" reseaons. We are ask to help out in more situations then any other country and get no respect for it. It is all jealousy. I will not see this movie if they take out the "real American Hero" crap. That is the true G.I.Joe!!

I understand some things need to be changed to make a movie marketable, but I also won't see this is G.I. Joe isn't a "real American hero" anymore.

I'm not talking about the soldier...I am talking about the corrupt governments who lie to, and manipulate soldiers everyday. Did you know that the American government secretly gave Syphilis to American soldiers to see how they would react to it??? They gave the cure to white soldiers, but allowed the black soldiers to die...that is an historical fact.

Did you know that unarmed American soldiers protested at the Capitol after World War 1 and were shot down in cold blood on the orders of the their superiors, this according to Senator Phil Spector, a Republican, who's own father was a soldier who witnessed the attack???

Did you know that after World War II the American Government promised to take care of vets and their families' medical needs for life??? What the hell happened to that promise???

Did you know that the government has cut school funds for the children of American soldiers...starting within the first 3 years of the war we our now in???

I care about the troops...but I don't care about a corrupt government that disrespects its people, starting with the troops that it sent to war without proper body armor, which many troops had to buy for themselves...and or, their families had to buy it for them...not to mention the poor hospitalization and benefits many have been denied, just recently.

And why is it that Congress and The Presidential Administration are so willing to send our troops off to war, but refuse to send their own children and nieces and nephews to the front lines to die??? Nor are these same politicians willing to lead the troops into battle. Why??? Because, even they don't believe in fighting wars...they'd rather the poor and the middle class do it for them!!! Now, if this war is really a life or death battle to save the world...I'll believe it when George Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, Hillary, Chelsey...and the Bush Twins pick-up weapons and personally lead us into battle on the front lines...if they do that, I will be so impressed that I will be happy to fight by their side, since I will know beyond any doubt that this is really a kill or be killed war to save the free world from the forces of evil. Yes, in the event of such a happening, I'll be there to fight, as should we all--but that will never happen because not one of those cowards is going to show up to lead the battle...so why should the rest of us???
