Calling all fans of Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN: the character's creator and four VIPs from the award-winning comic book series will be in attendance this fall at a convention held in honor of Gaiman's Shaper of Dreams.
Fiddler's Green: A Sandman Convention is the name of the event, to be held November 12 through November 14. 2004 at The Millennium Hotel, Minneapolis, MN. Among the guests of honor are series writer and co-creator Neil Gaiman; Karen Berger, Vice President of DC Comics; Todd Klein, the letterer of the SANDMAN series; Charles Vess, artist of the World Fantasy Award-winning issue #19 ("A Midsummer Night's Dream") and the Eisner Award-winning issue #75 ("The Tempest"); and Caitlan Kiernan, writer of THE DREAMING.
The convention will hold two tracks of panel discussions on various aspects of the fantasy series that forever changed comic books. Topics will range from a discussion on the mythology and storytelling aspect of the books to the creative formation of the series and how it impacted comics in general. Additional events such as readings and opportunities to meet the con's guests will also be included, and a dealer's room and art show are also being planned.
All the proceeds from the convention will be donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Additional information about the Fiddler's Green convention can be found at the website www.fiddlersgreencon.org or by writing to info@fiddlersgreencon.org.
