Sarah Michelle Gellar not in "The Dark Knight"

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Friday, April 13, 2007
Source: JoBlo

According to JoBlo, there is no truth to the recent rumor that Sarah Michelle Gellar will play a role in the upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight.

The site also mentioned that there was no confirmation that Harley Quinn, the character Gellar was rumored to be playing, would even be in the script.

JoBlo continued on to say that we could expect another female cast member to be announced shortly, but gave no mention as to who that could be.

Mildly disappointing news, but this movie is so good already that it really doesn't matter at this point.

I agree Merin...I'm a big Buffy fan/Whedonite, but I think the movie's going to be great anyway.

In some respects, Harley Quinn would be a way-too-out-there character for the tone this franchise has set up for itself. And in other respects, I think that Gellar could really have knocked the role out of the park as long as she consulted Joss first so she could regain the action/comic timing part that she seems to be lacking since BTVS ended.

I`m with Madmanic. I couldn't care either way. I just want to see the damn movie. Man, at this point, I just want to see a trailer. Seeing Nolan's Joker for the first time will be SWEET!

This is hardly surprising. Wasn't this "news" reported by some schmoe who claimed he was trying to cast her in his indy film? Besides, she couldn't be Harley anyway, she's playing Batgirl in the movie I'm directing for Warner Bros.

This doesn't really matter; it's not like her involvement was going to make or break the film. I do disagree with codenamev1 though; I do think the Harley Quinn character could make for a great character for Noloan. Not so much as the character waqs portrayed in the cartoon, but more in the slant of a once respected doctor who has lost her mind thanks to Joker's manipulations.

I liked her in Buffy, but I'm glad she's not in TDK, regardless of which character. Speaking of TDK, though, I saw my first Maggie Gyllenhaal movie last night (Stranger Than Fiction) and she was great! Pretty hot, too. I'm now looking forward to seeing her in the movie!
