Updates:

July 25, 2006 - The new poster for Saw III has been posted via Coming Soon.

May 22, 2006 - Lionsgate Entertainment said it will release the third film in its successful Saw series Oct. 31 with a substantial publicity campaign, including the release of a special director's cut DVD package earlier in the month. Saw III began shooting May 8 in Toronto and should finish by the end of June or early July. Although the studio would not confirm budget figures, they are rumored to be more than $10 million -- more than the first two films combined. [Hollywood Reporter]

May 5, 2006 - Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have selected their next victims. Bahar Soomekh and Angus Macfadyen have signed to co-star in Saw III alongside Saw franchise returnees Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Dina Meyer. Bell will reprise his role as villain Jigsaw, and Smith and Meyer are back as Amanda and Kerry, respectively. Soomekh, who co-starred in Lionsgate's ensemble drama Crash, will play Lynn, while MacFadyen (Braveheart) will play Jeff. [Hollywood Reporter]

March 3, 2006 - More blood will be shed. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures are moving forward with the third installment in the Saw horror franchise. The two companies will develop and produce Saw III, with Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II) returning to direct. Lionsgate has scheduled an Oct. 27 release. Leigh Whannell penned the Saw III screenplay based on a story by Whannell and James Wan. The latest chapter will stay true to the serial killer franchise's roots but will add "fresh, terrifying and unimaginable new twists," according to Twisted's Mark Burg and Oren Koules.
