A number of upcoming horror films are shuffling their release dates, with some moving right out of the Halloween month and into next year.
Bloody Disgusting reports that Lions Gate Films has pushed back the release of their horror movie SAW from September 17 to October 1.
Warner Bros. alerted us last week that HOUSE OF WAX, originally scheduled for an October release, would be pushed back until June 30, 2005. The recent fire that destroyed one of the sets came near the end of filming but was it sufficient enough to push the movie right back until next year? Maybe Warners likes the early results of the movie and that's why they're slotting it smack dab in the middle of the summer competition when ticket sales are usually higher.
Dark Horizons reports that DreamWorks won't release THE RING 2 this winter at all, and will instead open the sequel sometime next spring, with no reason given.
Finally, Fangoria broke the news that Dimension Films has delayed the release of CURSED once again. Originally scheduled for a summer 2003 release, the Wes Craven film has had a very troubled production made up of long delays and a complete reworking of its script. Dimension had hoped to get the werewolf tale into theaters on October 1 of this year but now it seems they're targeting a spring 2005 opening instead.
