It looks as if there is no stopping Arnold Schwarzenegger. Already with a slew of projects either in development or announced, the former Governor of California now has a zombie film as well. Variety had the exclusive that Schwarzenegger will both star and produce Maggie

“Project, based on the Black List script by John Scott 3, is set at a time when a ‘walking dead’ virus which has spread across the country. Schwarzenegger, who recently closed a deal to appear in the fifth ‘Terminator,’ will portray the father on a journey to help his daughter come to terms with her infection as she slowly becomes a zombie”.

The film will be directed by Henry Hobson and begin shoot ing this fall. Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass 2, Carrie) had been in negotiations to play the lead but scheduling conflicts have removed her from the project.

Interesting idea - Arnold Zombies. It'll be just like the Expendables, but with only the one walking frame.

The premise sounds kinda lame.  And haven't we had enough zombie movies recently?

Wiseguy 6/23/2013 11:32:42 AM

The premise of the film normally takes just a few minutes in zombie films. Guess the infection is super slow on this one.

Anyway it sounds like they're going for a different approach as the focus of the film. I may give this a shot, ah who am I kidding I'm checking this out, it's Arnie afterall

could be a movie shot over a 24-48 hour period with lots of dialog, character development... /shrug

 why not??

TheStinkyCheese 6/23/2013 5:27:44 PM

It's an interesting premise but nearly a tired one. And like Wise said, usually this only takes a few minutes in a zombie film so it might seem even more tiresome stretched out over 2 hours. I could still see it being done well, though. Sounds like a twisted rendition of The Road with some old fashioned Arnold ass-whoopin.

Well, obviously I'll check it out.  Like Wise said, it's Arnie, and I'm a huge Arnie fan...Which is why I'm afraid to watch The Last Stand.  I really wanna watch it, but I'm afraid.  I heard it's pretty bad.

I just finished watching The Last Stand for the first time not even an hour ago, and it was okay.  My 14 year old son thought that it was great.  Arnie is still the man, and you get some glimpses of how great he can be, but the movie doesn't do him justice.  They managed a great Arnie finale, with a one on one fight without any other distractions that were built up throughout the movie.  I would even go so far as to say it was pretty good.  They definately left the best for last with this movie.  More Arnie beat downs throughout the movie would have made it better.  Still want to see his return to sci-fi fantasy, so if it is a zombie flick, I'm there.

Can't tell you how happy I am to learn Hollywood plans to continue to crank out Zombie Movies for years to come.  With all the zombie parodies out there and now a zombie love story I was afraid the concept had reached the end of the line (it's saturation point).

Isn't it standard operating procedure in zombie movies to euthanize a loved one before they make the transformation.  Watching Arnold crush his daughter skull or blow her head off with a handgun seems like a sad way to end a movie.  It would be more touching if he chained her up somewhere and fed her raw meat.

Wonder who will play the daughter.  An age appropriate kid for Schwarzenegger would probably be somewhere between  35 to 45 years old.

Do you think this movie will be a comedy like Kindergarten Cop??   "It's not a tooooomer...."

VTGamehendge 6/24/2013 11:23:33 PM

Great point, blankczech.  Arnold is only three years younger than my dad.  I'm the youngest of three and I'm 31.  Making her like 18 or something would be way off.  Or maybe they're going to continue to try and convince us that Arnie is way younger than he really is.
