Sounds good to me , hope they get a good Director an Writer for film . Conan was the film that made Him a star , lets see if it can still do it  again !

I'm down like Charlie Brown,  going down town, for this Flick, lol!

WOW, that is surprising, but better an old Conan than a Terminator, that would never work.  I'll wait and see what its like with a trailer before I say it will suck.

I caught this news on yahoo before confirming it here on mania, but yeah I'm as surprised as anyone out there!  An aging Conan has possibilities for sure and I hope they get this Conan adventure done right this time.

I didn't dislike or hate Destroyer as most seem to because even though it certainly had it's faults, IMO, it had it's merits to.  I thought the landscapes, production design, cast, humor, and especially the action where enough for me to call it a decent fantasy adventure and I think that the movie as a whole works on that level.  No it wasn't nearly as good as Barbarian and I know Destroyer could've been a whole lot better, including the story, which I thought had some good ideas but didn't have enough long-term depth.  I also thought that the Thoth-Amon crystal palace scenes could've had a lot more done with it, the campaign didn't spend enough time there and it felt like they were in and out in no time which blew opportunities to expand the adventure a bit longer.  In other words, they could've had Conan and company encounter some other obstacles (like perhaps a few traps and other monsters) before finally having the man-ape/Thoth-Amon climax, which I still enjoyed but should've had better creature FX!  One of Destroyer's main faults was that the producers watered down the overall tone of the film so they can get a PG-13 rating so that the film would reach wider audiences.

Even though a good Conan movie can and I expect will be made at this point, I still believe that this could've been done at least a decade ago and perhaps a trilogy of King Conan films could've transpired.  Not that The Legend of Conan is a bad title, but I think that they should've gone with King Conan and save Legend of Conan for when they eventually reboot this but with better actors for that movie, not to mention a much better script, producers and director!!  I also think that Arnold missed his chance to make a longer successful series out of this back in the 80's when he did garbage like Red Sonja and Raw Deal instead of continuing the Conan adventures after Destroyer.  Despite the criticism that the latter film took, it still made over $100 million worldwide so the audience was still there and therefore Arnold could've continued making other Conan adventures.  Too bad, because between all of the comics from the Marvel series to The Savage Sword of Conan to the Robert E. Howard novels and even other stories that could've been developed, there was so much more that could've been done with the Conan character.  Alas, this is what happens when a star like Arnold and the studio like Universal were too short-sighted at the time to pursue what should've been one of the great, all-time, fantasy movie franchises.  As great of an idea as I think bringing back Arnold is for this new Conan, I cannot help but look back and think to myself...what could've and perhaps should've been!

This could be really good if they get a decent script in place.  An aging King Conan going out in a blaze of glory.  Epic.

This is great news. Arnold IS Conan, and since he'll be playing an OLD Conan, I see no issues. I know one thing, it'll be better than that pile of crap reboot we got last year.

InnerSanctum 10/27/2012 10:42:12 PM

Well, he is playing an older why not?  It could work.

BunyonSnipe 10/28/2012 3:04:24 AM

Yeah This would make a great ending to the trilogy, but Arnie IS Conan only until someone better comes along!

BunyonSnipe 10/28/2012 3:06:20 AM

Personally I want to see a new adaptation from a different company every year, preferably adaptations of the novels or an anthology TV series based on the short stories...

And damn it more Fan Films, like the upcoming 'Frost Giant's Daughter'!
