Schwarzenegger Talks TERMINATOR

How does the Governator fit in?

Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-800 Cyborg in James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR(1984).

The title of the article should be spoiler warning enough but we'll say it again. If you don't want to know anything spoilerish about Arnold Schwarzenegger's possibly appearing in Terminator Salvation, we advise you to exit this article.

Still here?

Arnold Schwarzenegger recently confirmed the "Salvation" cameo rumors in a webcast interview with blogger Bill Bradley. The Los Angeles Times reports that the governor met with director McG and agreed to be in the movie as long as he didn't have to perform, which would have taken time away from his duties running the state of California.

“I made it very clear that I don’t have the time to do the movie,” he said. “I said that I would be willing to be in the movie if they get the technology together, and so they are working on that right now.”

In the film, a prequel to the original, Schwarzenegger would be in a brief scene in which the main character encounters him as a “future Terminator,” according to the governor.

Terminator Salvation will hit theaters May 21, 2009.

Prequel?  Looks like someone got their facts mixed up.

No, it's technically a prequel.  It takes place before the first Terminator and Reese have been sent back in time, which is where the original started.

That's what I figured he would do, if he did agree to cameo. My guess is that Connor will be walking through a terminator factory, or something like that (as it appears he is doing in one of the publicity stills), and sees the Governator-model T-800 on the assembly line.  So they will use his image and likeness, but he won't be active or require any movement or dialogue.

This is a great news.  From everything I have seen the franchise was going to get a boost from this new T film.  Getting Arnold involved even as a prop is a big fat cherry.

Great to have him aboard in any capacity. I was hoping to see him not as a Terminator but rather as a resistance fighter before lets say, getting captured later on and templated for a Terminator Model. It would have been cool to see him fight the good fight before getting taken. Alas, we dont get what we want so I guess seeing him as a Terminator will have to do. : (

Jedi...Who says that still might not happen...Than can cgi a face on any actor that has the right physic...I mean the article does not say how he will be introduced into the movie so let's not assume it will be as a terminator although chances are it will be but let's hope they go with your idea cause I think that would be a very cool thing too do...

Starlight...Don't you think this movie is starting to look more and more like Star Wars? lol I can't even tell you how much I am going to bring that up until Star Trek comes out lol some more G!

Wiseguy 4/22/2009 3:03:38 PM

Love it, love it. Though I don't see how he'd return to the franchise after office unless the new Terminators are so advanced that they age like humans.

mla, Starlight isn't reading this unless there's a mention of Twilight or Star Trek in the headline.

So the big spoiler of this article is........

.....that there's no spoiler. Is he in? Is he out? The answer?? Maybe.....

It sounds like he basically giving permission for them to use his likeness, and that's about it. Whether it is CGI or a dummy, I am sure they will have Arnie from 20 years ago in it, like using a scene from T2 and somehow figuring out how to put it in, kind of like Marlon Brondo in SR. No matter what, it will be dope to see him in it, no matter how he is.
