Sci Fi Channel has announced a new spinoff series from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. CAPRICA will be set about 50 years before and will center on the cataclysmic events that inform the current series.

The new series will be more about how the "bad guys' rise to power." It will detail how robotic Cylon Alliance rose to power and decimated the 12 Colonies of Kobol (Caprica is the name of the largest planet in the system).

CAPRICA will weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television's first science fiction family saga.

The new series is being and executive-produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick. 24's Remi Aubuchon will write the script.

I was always wondering if they were going to do a series like this. I was kinda hoping it would be a war series like Space above and beyond with the look of the original galactica series, with the old cylons and what not. more than likey it will have the old cylons but it doesnt sound liek theyll be much of a war. then again who knows how acurate this story is as far as plot goes. those jj abrams rumors about an academy movie were jumping the gun it seems .

Spider guy, SHUT THE FUCK UP! NO ONE GIVES A SHIT! Do you even have a social life? Stop cluttering up the messageboard with your pointless, useless trivia!

Can someone please make that asshat stop posting the same stuff in every story about BSG. You don't like the show? MOVE ON!

I didn't read any of it either so forgive me if I'm making a point that Spider made in Vol 1-456 of his posts. I have never seen the like of that diatribe and hope to never again. BSG was on a major network 20 something years ago when even cable didn't have many channels. Everything I have read makes me think that SciFi is very happy with its 2-3 million views a week plus the DVD sales. In any case, I didn't give this series a chance when it came out and now I'm a huge fan. I will give this new show a chance. The stories, characters, effects, and yes the hot women (just the thing for a scifi nerd really) are all great. I am excited to see what SciFi turns out in the next few years, hopefully they won't milk this dry. This show has single handedly restored my faith in TV based SciFi. How about a Hyperion series or some other adaptation based on the countless good SciFi novels out there. I wasn't too impressed with Dune though, but that's....another story.

I would understand if it was Star Trek...BUT IT'S BSG!!! Get over it!! The original sucked anyways... 2 seasons at best! Also let us not forget that cheese they tried give us in 1980... The new series is soooo much better. It's going into a third season so they must be doing something right.

I love that Spider dude. He's like the crazy guy on the street ranting and raving about the end of the world. Breaks out the same articles everytime BSG news is posted. I admire the tenacity...at the same time I'm laughing my @$$ off.

I said it before and I'll say it again even tho Spider will ignore it but Glenn Larson is credited as consulting producer on the new Galactica. It means that he gets a fat paycheck and he would not have that credit if the show was truely unauthorized.
