Wow, this sounds familiar. Once the network get's too much creative control, bad things happen. TNT ruined Babylon 5. SyFy ruined Sliders. Now, AMC is going to ruin The Walking Dead.

There have been some REALLY sad/depressing apocalyptic movies. The Road is just brutal in it's simplicity. Testament, a movie I've only seen twice, once in 1984 & again last year, is just gut-wrentching. The remake of On the Beach is an emotional powerhouse, offering a glimmer of hope, only to have that hope ripped away leading to one of the most depressing last hours of all time.
