Due to the number of anonymous scoops that this site gets, one must be very careful about what rumors to publish, at least until something happens that validates what your source is telling you. A case in point took place last weekend when a old-time
Coming Attractions scooper sent us an email with no less than ten scoops they've heard making the rounds in the business. Some of the casting rumors that they told us were explosive in their nature, but even though we remembered their name from years back, we had no way of knowing if what they were telling us had a shred of merit.
Now it appears that at least one of the news items that "The Jerk" scooped us is coming to pass. Thanks to a heads up from the team at
Coming Soon, which linked to the original story in
Production Weekly, we've got a ping.
Jerk-dude told us that he's heard Hugh Grant and Johnny Knoxville were the two actors being considered to pair up in
L.A.P.I., the Shane Black-penned script formerly known as
YOU'LL NEVER DIE IN THIS TOWN AGAIN.
Production Weekly only broke the news about Knoxville's possible casting; the Grant rumor is what our scooper told us.
Now that we've seen for ourselves that, at the very least, one of the rumors that The Jerk mentioned to us seems to be out there in the ether, we're feeling better about telling you what other things they told us -- like which stars are linked to the
WATCHMEN movie, or what video game project John Woo may be circling as his next film. We'll publish the remainder of our scooper's report tomorrow and reveal all then.
Production Weekly was dead on when it broke the news six days ago that Spanish commercial director Jaume Collet-Serra would direct the remake of
HOUSE OF WAX. That news item just appeared in today's
Hollywood Reporter.
