Sci Fi Wire is reporting Christian Bale and Gary Oldman are definitely signed for a BATMAN BEGINS sequel but that Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman and director Christopher Nolan are not.

Bale told Sci Fi "I did enjoy making this one. It's a fascinating character." He also added, "We got a sense of who he is, but there's so much [more]."

Freeman said that he is unsure whether the filmmakers feel his character (Lucius) is "an integral part of the series" or not.

Michael Caine told the Wire in reference to himself and Katie Holmes, "No, no. We're not signed." But Holmes suggested they'd do the film again.

In related "comic book" character news, Krypton Site is reporting that John Schneider (Pa Kent) might soon exit the series SMALLVILLE. According to rumors, the producers could have his character die of a heart attack, as in the comics.

Schneider is apparently urging fans to speak out against this.

Batman sequel could be great, but he need to go up against Man Bat, Clayface, Harlequin...wait why not used the Knightfall series wherein there is a breakout from Arkham Asylum and he need to face Gotham Baddest. In this way they could make a trilogy and shoot it all at once.

Pa kent died of heart attack? I thought that happened when Clark becomes old enough to see his pop with grey hair and all chubby. Not a good idea.

*sigh* Foolish WB. Pa Kent did die of a heart attack when Clark was in High School, as seen in the original "Superman: The Movie". But, that was before the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" mini-series, which revamped the entire DC Universe. Pa Kent's been alive and well in everything Superman since then.

Losing Jonathen Kent on Smallville is a bad move. He's the real mentor figure...sure, Martha could step in, but its not the same. Without Jonathen, who is Clark always going to turn to? The only other older man who can give him advice...Lex. And that just ain't right.

Goyer has already publicly stated what is plans would be if he were to write the next 2 or 3 Batman films. They involve The Joker and Two Face.

As far as Pa Kent, Bad idea. Schneider does a great job, and I hope they keep him. Plus, I met him a couple months ago and he was as nice as possible.

I would love to see Christian Bale and everyone else including Gary Oldman return for another Batman film, but ever since Keaton left no one else has ever come back to play the dark knight. I don't know what Kilmer's plans were after his film and Clooney said he would definitely come back to play the character again but nothing ever happened. This is just one of those classic examples where I would have to see it to believe it. Also, if Joker and Two Face are going to be in some more future sequels, then are they going to be themselves or are they going to the people that they were before they turned in to derranged phsycho killers? After all I'm sure Goyer just might keep his next two sequels in a time line that still takes place before Keaton's first Batman film. Another thing about Goyer is that his seqeul writings have not been that successful. The first Balde was awesome and still the best but then two and three came along and it just didn't hit it like the first one. Even Wesley Snipes was pissed off and totally unsatisfied with the end result of Blade Trinity. He even tried to sue Goyer because of it. With all do respect, (mainly towards Kevin Smith) I would love to see Tim Burton come back and revamp the character one more time.

To respond to Valent876...I really doubt Goyer or even WB is concerned with any continuity to the previous Batman films. I always thought the whole concept behind Batman Begins was to start fresh from the beginning and create a whole new series...not to be a prequel to a series that turned into a circus.

Ultrazilla is right. The Burton Batman movies are as relevant to the continuity of Batman Begins as the Adam West/Burt Ward Batman feature. Warner Brothers has even conceeded this fact (despite the fact that they are planning a rerelease of the last four flicks on DVD to capitalize on Batman Begins fairly inevitable success). I've been consistently disappointed with Tim Burton since at least his "take" on Planet of the Apes; my hopes aren't much higher for his Wonka:Redux. So, lets keep him as far away from the Bat-franchise as possible. A Joker tale would certainly be an excellent way for the Batman crew to pull a "Spiderman II" and make a sequel on par with, if not superior to, the original. Finally, someone with a clue is guiding this series.

I've started watching Lois & Clark on DVD (I bought the set... does that make me "gay"?) Anyway, compared to the Pa Kent on Lois & Clark, Schneider's character is well rounded and fully fleshed out. He's really guided Clark and protected him.

On the other hand, his death could be very dramatic, if done right. It would be season 5 darker, I think.

Batman Begins is a very well done movie. It builds up the characters and the cgi sequences where people are under Scarecrow's influence are great. Joker will be in the second installment with what they show at the end. In reference to the sequel being as good as Spider-Man 2, let's hope not. I don't want Batman 2 being a rip-off of a bad movie which was a rip-off of a good movie, Superman 2. Anyone who thought SM2 was good should rewatch Superman 2 and they should see it SM2 for what it was.

In response to Ultrazilla, I just hope they don't get carried away and make the whole thing rediculous.(like totally mindless sequels or really twisted, dumbfounded plots)
