Ridley and Tony Scott will be managing the adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's THE TELL-TALE HEART, says the Hollywood Reporter. The brothers will be producing the psychological thriller under their Scott Free Productions for Michael Cuesta and screenwriter Dave Callaham. The budget will be around 20 million and casting is under way. The trade reports the tone of the film will likely be a cross between Jacob's Ladder and Marathon Man.
Plot Summary: Based on the 1843 short story, it follows an unnamed narrator who insists on his sanity despite his murder of an old man with a vulture eye. The murder is carefully calculated and the murderer hides the body by cutting it into pieces and hiding it under the floorboards. Ultimately, the narrator's guilt manifests itself in the hallucination that the man's heart is still beating under the floorboards.
