Scott Farrar Talks TRANSFORMERS 2

The visual effects supervisor and second unit director of TRANSFORMERS, the smash hit earlier this summer for Paramount and Dreamworks, talked the sequel a bit with Sci Fi Wire while on a visit to ILM.

"We want to improve on some of the processes that we did," Ferrar said in an interview at Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco, where the film's transforming robots were created. "I think what we're going to do is get faster and know our problems sooner and quicker. And then, of course, I know Michael's always thinking about new, crazy actions. And we're open to that."

After discussing the monumental task of creating the effects for the first film, Farrar groaned and fell off his chair in jest when asked about the sequel, which was announced last week with an anticipated release date of June 26, 2009.

"It's a circus, and they're going to raise the tight-wire walker a little bit higher next time," he said. "But it's all going to be dramatic. I think the commitment is not to just chuck out a sequel. The commitment is—and this makes us really happy here—that it's a deep story. There are lots of layers to the story of all these Decepticons, everybody. And so they want to really keep the characters rich."

Belive it or not, I saw the first Transformers movie for the first time yesterday at a discount theatre. I am very excited for number 2... Am I first?

Sweet, I was first. I wanted to explain. Becasue of my schedule, my wife and I can rearely go to movies and she hates sci-fi. She decided to give it a try and thought it was very funny... how the Transformers spoke so melodramatically, like the weight of the world was on their shoulders.. my response of course was "Honey, they are robots from outer space, and that is how they all talk." Hilarity then ensued.

Freakin Loved this movie! Can’t wait for the sequel. Not only will I get my geek rocks off again, it will finally quell the naysayers. Get ready naysayers. Can you see it? Inm the not too distant future, Transformers 2 with more Decepticons (ones that actually have dialouge) more Autobots, more transforming, more fight sequenses.
Oh yeah, you naysayers will be eating crow then. I can’t wait for Transformers to set another record on DVD sales when it is released.
Long live Megatron!

gauleyboy420........I am with you 100% !! This movie kicked ass, it was better than Spiderman3, POTC3, etc. Was my favorite movie of the year. Can't wait till the sequel, and to see all the naysayers eating crow with you. For those of you who saw it once and really liked it, see it again....it was better the second time around !!

Layers to the story and characters? Don't get me wrong... I loved the movie. I was literally shaking with excitement when they started transforming on screen. But it was all about the giant robots beating the begezuz out of eachother and transforming into cool cars. In terms of plot and character... kinda lame.
However, I cannot wait for the sequel. Gonna be AWESOME!!!!

Visuals great, story lame sums it up. I want more Transformers interaction not stupid humans trying to figure stuff out and reacting to everything in awe. The viewers are supposed to be the ones in awe.

Still not been to see it either. Maybe this weekend. I live in hope.

But they have a few months to get a non-lame story together then before shooting starts.
