Scott Faye Updates on DUKE NUKEM and ALICE

Producer Scott Faye, who's Max Payne adaptation will hit theaters in October, has updated news outlets on the development behind the upcoming adaptations of Duke Nukem and the twisted version of Alice (based around the "Alice in Wonderland" tale). While talking to Kotaku, here's what the producer had to say.

"I'm working diligently at making a Duke Nukem movie scenario that will live up to the character and its [importance] in the videogame world," said Faye. "As is the case with all of my game adaptations, I'd rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation."

“More than ever before, I feel that the feature adaptation of Duke Nukem will come to together nicely,” said Faye, who runs Depth Entertainment.

Faye has a production arrangement with Miller’s Radar Group, which will be part of every aspect of the Duke Nukem process, according to Faye.

“We're expanding Duke's ‘storyverse’ in a very significant major way without abandoning or negating any element that's being used to introduce Duke to the next gen platforms,” added Faye.

For Alice;

“I love the grown up Alice in a horror story version of Wonderland, and knew instinctively that the project would have a commercial appeal easily discerned by the film studios because the character and mythology are so deeply ingrained into the collective psyche,” said Faye.

I haven been waiting for the Duke on the big screen for a long time. I can't believe they put tomb raider before him. Duke Nukem was known for being one of the first Controversial games back in the day. I hope they stick to what it's known for.

Are there going to be vulture people also? Max Payne is shooting for a PG13 rating, that should tell you it's going to be shit.
Now this guy is making Duke Nukem? Fuck all, just give me God of War!!!!

There better be tits in Duke Nukem. And, of course, Vulture People.

"Duke Nukem: the Movie" will come out before "Duke Nukem Forever?" Does this mean "Duke Nukem: the Movie: the Videogame" will also come out before "Duke Nukem Forever?" Can we expect to see a DS title geared towards tweeners called "Duke Nukem: my BFF 4EVA" before "Duke Nukem Forever?"

hanso - you're gonna be getting your GOW in spades, my friend. Ratner will see to it. He's gonna cram GOW, GOW2 & GOW3 game plots into one 80 minute film. I look forward to Kratos fighting the Kitchen Sink.

I loved the Duke Nukem games but I'm so sick of hearing people say I hope they don't "shit on their legacy." What legacy? It's a cheesy video game. Same thing with a PG-13 rating. PG-13 movies can still be good as well.

Duke Nukem was the first mainstream game to put tits in itself. Umm. Yeah. That is what I meant.

That’s about all it’s got as far as a legacy goes. That’s its “importance in the videogame world”. It pushed the limits for its time and to go a PG-13 route would be “shitting on their legacy”. They need to push the limits on an R-Rated film to “live up to the character”. Perhaps shitting on tits would do that?

Nice AmishP - well said.

PG13 can still be good but not when the source material they are using to make the film is R. That's what they are doing with Max Payne. They want it to be PG13 but the game is rated M for mature which is the video game equivalent of an R rated film. Hence, Max Payne with PG13 rating and vulture people = SHIT!

Joey, please don't mention Ratner & God of War. I spent enormous amounts of brain power each day trying to forget.

Also, i like boobies.

What I'D like to see is someone adapt F.E.A.R. to the big screen. The PC version of this game totally rocked and the story was scary as hell! But of course, if they did, they'd screw it up too!

Now, as with Duke Nukem, I can't see them doing a proper adaptation of it if they make it a PG-13 movie. Just won't work! Hell, the original "Duke Nukem 3D" on the PC was more 'R' rated than any game before it! Still one of the coolest "old-school" FPS's around!

Max Payne is gonna SUCK! Like you said, Hanso, PG-13=SHIT! And Mark Wallberg? Please.....the man couldn't act his way out of a wet paper sack! He sucked fighting apes, and he'll suck fighting "vulture people"!
