Scott side-steps TRIPOLI?

Only weeks after announcing he was going to bring the action/drama TRIPOLI to the big screen, and a few days after his GLADIATOR partner Russell Crowe seemed to be close to starring in TRIPOLI, it seems director Ridley Scott is eyeing another movie.

It seems he's considering directing MATCHSTICK, a movie described as similar to PAPER MOON (which means you won't be reading about it here), and will then get to TRIPOLI.

TRIPOLI tells the story of the first major American military action outside the U.S., back in the early 1800s, when Thomas Jefferson sent forces to stop a dictator in Tripoli (in modern-day Libya) from sending pirates at American shipping.
