Scott's NOTTINGHAM Production Delayed

By: Jarrod Sarafin
Date: Monday, July 28, 2008
Source: Hollywood Reporter

While there has been no specific cause mentioned, the trades are confirming that production for Ridley Scott's revision of the Robin Hood legend Nottingham has now been delayed. Sources believe that it could be the possible SAG strike or labor issues which have stopped production from going forward. As we know from earlier reports, Russell Crowe was set to reunite with his friend Scott to play the Sheriff of Nottingham while actress Sienna Miller was set to play Maid Marian.

Production was supposed to begin in mid-August in London but has now been placed on hold into the TBD (To Be Determined) category. The trade even brought up the notion that it couldn't find out whether this was merely a postponement or a cancellation from Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

When an official reasoning is given, we'll pass it along.

It could be that they want crow to lose 40 lbs before they finish shooting.

Hes gone to hell in a hand basket in the last 5 years.

It would be a great idea to cast someone of equal stature as Robin Hood. Looking at the trailer for Scott's Bed of Lies it looks like it would have been a great idea to have Leonardo Dicaprio play the Prince of Thieves to Crowe's Sheriff.

Is Christian Bale too busy? He'd be a great Robin Hood for this project. He might draw fans thinking this will be a traditional telling of the tale with Robin as a hero only to be duped into seeing his turn as a villainous Hood.

The article I read was pretty clear that the delay was due to a possible impending strike. Whoever they get for Robin should be someone who fairly screams "hero," so as to turn expectations on their head. Since they're going for the Nottingham as the hero angle. By the way, Sienna Miller is a ho. Now that Balthazar Getty has admitted that he & his wife are broken up, she'll lose interest pretty quickly. Probably once G.I. Joe is release, she'll dump him & go after someone else who is married.
