SCREAM Not Quite as Loud as Predicted

When the final count came in, SCREAM 3 earned an astounding $34.71-million in its debut weekend. That was about $500,000 short of Miramax's prediction, but it hardly mattered: the film was still the easy winner, besting the remaining Top Ten films combined. Also of note: THE GREEN MILE reached $120-million, and GALAXY QUEST passed $60-million; WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH hit the $125-million mark, and SLEEPY HOLLOW continues its trek toward $100-million.

Listed below are the science fiction, fantasy, and horror films that ranked at the box office this weekend. Totals are given in millions of dollars, preceded by the film's overall ranking.

Scream 3 (1) 34.71/34.71
Stuart Little (3) 4.71/128.64
