There's nothing like living with a psychopath, is there? I've noticed a few thrillers getting green lit out of Hollywood the past few months involving a killer friend in the same house and here's another one. Screen Gems has acquired Sonny Mallhi's spec thriller The Roommate. Sonny is actually an executive over at Vertigo but he wanted his spec to get picked up on its own merits so he wrote it under a pseudonym. When the genre savvy Screen Gems picked it up, he revealed his identity. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Mallhi and Irene Yeung will produce via their Vertigo Entertainment.
Plot Concept: The story centers on Sara, a college student randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. They start off as friends but things turn deadly as Rebecca begins to target people in Sara's life.

Doesn't surprise me to see this been green lit since these fims can be done on the cheap and usually have a decent return.
