With a successful adaptation of THE RING under his belt (not to mention top honors at the box office), screenwriter Ehren Kruger is setting his creative sights on two projects for Universal.
VARIETY reports that Kruger's first project will be SKELETON KEY, a genre adaptation of a Japanese film similar to THE RING. The plot is currently a secret, but the location and setting is New Orleans gothic. The protagonist is a twenty-something female.
THE TALISMAN is the second project Kruger will adapt. Based on the novel by Stephen King and Peter Straub, TALISMAN is about a 12-year old boy who journeys between parallel universes searching for a talisman that will save his sick mother. Universal is hoping to attach Iain Softley (K-PAX, HACKERS) as director.
No production or release dates have been announced for the new films.
