Bennett Yellin and James Johnston have been hired by Paramount Pictures to write the remake of "Let's Scare Jessica to Death." The new story centers on a fearless young man at a college in Colorado who, while pledging a frat, must prove his allegiance to the house by scaring his girlfriend into believing the college is haunted. The prank then takes on a life of its own.

Christine Peters will produce.

The original film was about a woman who had been recently released from a mental hospital tries to start over by moving into an old New England farmhouse.

So the original movie is centered on a woman from a mental hospital trying to get her life on track and the remake centers on a frat guy scaring the hell out of his girlfriend. What part of this premise sounds like a remake? And what is hollywood's infatuation with the remake? Some alright movies have come out of them but wouldn't originality seem more appealing?

I agree, I fail to see the 'remake' aspect of the project....
