Another reboot, remake or re-something is imagined for the Hellraiser series, reports Shock Til You Drop. The Weinstein Company have hired two new screenwriters, Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, to adapt a new big screen series for the classic horror franchise. Production will begin shortly planned for an early 2009 release.

Plot Summary: First released in 1987, Hellraiser centers on a man who finds he is given more than he bargains for when he solves the puzzle of the Lament Configuration - a doorway to hell. But his ex-lover has found a way of bringing him back, and his niece, Kirsty Lawrence, finds herself bargaining with the Cenobites, angels to some, demons to others, whose greatest pleasure is the greatest pain.

Clive Barker Presents Hellraiser will hit theaters Jan. 9, 2009.

Definetly one of the creepiest/freakiest movies I've ever seen. Hopefully they will do the original justice.

The girls name was Kirsty Cotton and she was played by Ashley Lawrence. Bit of a mix up there it seems. But Im with you. hope this is good.

Pinhead usually delivers some of the coolest dialogue in horror movies. This series badly needs a fresh start because since Hellraiser Bloodline and its slew of direct to video sequels, Pinhead and the Cenobites became less and less of a factor to the point that they were barely in the movies. Granted Clive Barker's lack of involvment and New Line/Dimension handling of the series let a once cool concept go to rot. And hopefully Doug Bradley continues to play Pinhead because that man hasn't aged much over the past 23 years.

I agree with Flint, hope this is done justice and YES this is the one of those series (next to Highlander) in need of a BIG
re-boot.
The best plan of attack so to speak would be for these new guys to sit down with Barker and hatch out like a true BG story for the box and for the Cenobites. Also it wouldn't hurt to maybe give them both some rules/guidelines so to speak.
The next step is to get a director who understands the difference between horror and gore.

raithmana, Bloodline was part 4 (Hellraiser in space) actually Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth was horrible also but I quite liked the first two... oddly enough, I liked the second one better than the first!! Dr. Channard is diabolical!

i've heard bradley is not going to be pinhead in this, which is a tragedy. i like bloodline because it was the origin and ending of the box, but leaves room for sequals because it ends so far in the future. hell on earth, hellseeker and inferno weren't terrible but did not quite live up to the barker legacy, that is to say they had there moments, at least they weren't deader.

i don't care for a reboot of hellraiser they should just have barker make sequels, that would obviously be rockin' the shit.

a reboot of highlander would be welcome, because adrian paul is getting a little played out for me. after all his work in the series and what is it 2 movies? we could use some fresh young blood in the highlander franchise.

McKraken I didn't say Bloodline was the third film, but its all good. You probably looked at my comment and took it that way, but no harm no foul. And yeah Hell on Earth was basically HELL to watch. though I did like the part where it was a massacre masterpiece where Pinhead went to town on the people in the club. Bloodline was tolerable, but the series had lost its steam at that point. Then the direct to video sequels that followed treated Pinhead to the point where he was basically almost treated as an afterthought. Hopefully Barker and whoever they get to direct can give the re-boot a new lease on life for Hellraiser because was a unique horror concept when it first came on the scene. Hellraiser II was my favorite of the bunch, though the Pinhead-Leviathan showdown could have been more grandiose. And on the thoughts of Highlander, BELIEVE ME IT NEEDS TO BE RE-BOOTED AFTER HIGHLANDER: THE SOURCE. We all know they tried to pretend Highlander 2 never happened but it did. The only grace of that was Lambert and Connery was reunited. Congratulations The Source, you have now completely made me forget how bad The Quickening was by us looking how PITIFUL you are. And clearly Adrian Paul, Panzer, Davis and company didn't care anymore either. AND PLEASE DO NOT RE-INTRODUCE THE PLANET ZEIST SCENARIO THAT KILLED H-2 RIGHT OFF THE BAT.

yeah the only reason to watch hell on earth is the massacre in the club and as for the other hellraiser sequals seeing them once is enough if not more than(hellbound not included love that flick). oh yeah the source was totally phoned in and zeist should be purged from the books of history so future generations won't suffer as we have. we must learn from the past in hope not to repeat it. zeist didn't kill h-2 right off the bat it was more like having your throat slashed and bleeding out for 109 minutes only to be pissed on in your final moments of life.

I could never get into the Hellraiser movies, so for me...for ME...my opinion here...nobody get all bent out of shape thinking I'm bashing their favorite movie (you know who you are)...
...so for me, they really couldn't do any worse than has already be done, so a remake could work for me. I'll hafta see.

experiMENTAL...You could not get into the first movie? To each his own...This is my story...I got kicked out of my house by my step dad which lasted for two days then I was back, but during those two days I was living in my car and decided to go watch a Drive Inn movie, which turned out to be the first hell raiser and I was by myself, needless to say I had left about half way through because it freaked me out, it is now one of my favorite Scary movies of all time along with the first nightmare on elm street and Evil dead 1 and 2...Funny how things work out...
