DreamWorks Pictures and Yahoo Movies are showing an extended clip from the 3D remake of Fright Night, the same piece of action they showed off at the SDCC. With co-star David Tennant introducing it, you can watch the clip in the video player below. The vampire tale stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, David Tennant, Imogen Poots and Toni Collette. Helmer Craig Gillespie led the direction, based on a screenplay by Marti Noxon.

Plot Concept: Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn't notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Fright Night arrives in 3D/2D theaters August 19, 2011.

Tennant is channeling a bit of Russell Brand, methinks.

Still, I think I'm up for it. Kinda. Sorta. Perhaps.

I think you're right Harry. This is one of those films that I sort of want to see but it's not really hitting the right chords with me for some reason. I still want to see Conan more than this that opening weekend but I'm sure I'll get around to this at some time

I loved the original and didn't see the sense in a remake.  Adding David Tennant to the cast changed my mind.  I love the take on Peter Vincent and curious how Charlie will entice him to help (this Vincent is successful and employed.)

I am impressed that they didn't try to do the Roddy McDowall version of Peter Vincent again. They went with an entirely different feel for the character. I actually feel a little better about this remake after having seen this clip, and it's entirely possible that this version of Vincent may turn out to be just as memorable as the original.

Just my 2 cents.

(Having said that, I'm with Wiseguy - Conan will be first.)

I believe that this Vegas Magician Peter Vincent is a HAS BEEN. He USED to be successful. Now he just thinks he's somebody. (evidence from the assistant calling him a douche bag).  I think this will be a good updated version. I am a big fan of Tennant tho.

I would not be interested in this if not for Tennant.  Granted, his Peter Vincent is kind of the Doctor if the the Doctor was rude and uncouth, but, that being said... I may pass up 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' to see this instead. (As I'm in between jobs with only enough cash for three flicks: Cap, Cowboys and Aliens, and weighing in on the third.  Sorry, TMI?)
