SDCC: Redband Trailer for QUARANTINE

Screen Gems unleashed a redband trailer for its upcoming horror film Quarantine at their Saturday panel at the San Diego Comic-Con and it has now popped up online courtesy of IGN Movies, which I'll place down below. The film stars Jennifer Carpenter, Jay Hernandez, Columbus Short, Greg Germann, Steve Harris, Dania Ramirez, Rade Sherbedgia and Jonathon Schaech. Director John Erick Dowdle was in charge of production, based on a screenplay that he co-wrote with brother Drew Dowdle.

Plot Summary: Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

Quarantine will hit theaters Oct. 10, 2008.

I think scriptwriters are using a copy/cut/paste approach to movie plots.

Found footage to dramatically play out events? Check.
Lets quarantine and cut off all communications to eliminate plausibility? Check.

We'll also have this extremely convenient setup, as News stations still give a damn about Fire Dept going-ons in this day and age. So contrived. I'll pass.

This is a remake of a Spanish movie entitled [Rec].

This remake looks like it will suck compared to the original, but isn't that usually the case?

Everyone should see the original before seeing Quarantine. Torrent if you have to.

I find it a little silly when a movie trailer gives away every single plot point of a film... This one does that.

Watched the trailer? You just saved yourself $11.95!
