Nice car. The robot looks a little like the mechs from Mass Effect 2. Still cool, though.

It seems that Columbia Pictures and director Len Wiseman chose the streets of the SDCC as their venue to show off futuristic cops and their rides. Or rather the street across from the popular con which kicked off today. The folks over at ComingSoon took some snapshots of the robotic law enforcers to be featured in Len Wiseman's remake of Total Recall and passed them along. Check some of them out below and more here.
This latest adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" will star Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and John Cho. Helmer Wiseman is leading the direction, based on a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer, Mark Bomback and James Vanderbilt.
Plot Concept: The new story involves the nation states of Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. Vilos Cohaagen (Cranston) the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.
Total Recall will enter theaters August 3, 2012.

Whoa whoa whoa! Back the truck up! They're setting this movie on Earth? I can see that concept being kinda cool, but if they're going to do that then they should just change the names of the characters and call it a sequel. That would make much more sense to me. <head-palm>
Never read the short story. I'm a big fan of the original movie. That said, I kinda like the vibe of this reboot/remake. Nice car, reminds me of something from the Blade Runner universe. Placing the story on Earth might open things up for more possibilities.
In the short story he never really went to Mars - he just went to that place to have those memories implanted so he can "experience" them. It got complicated. And in the movie it was left up in the air if he actually went to Mars or not.
That car looks an awful lot like the spinner from Blade Runner. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Yep...I like the style direction that they are heading in. Having said that...I am an avid fan of the original. I hope they dont ruin my past memories with this new film.
