A day after showing off their first clip from Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens, Universal Pictures and AOL Moviefone have unleashed a second clip from the upcoming sci-fi western. Check it out below along with a new featurette. The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Ana de la Reguera and Abigail Spencer. Iron Man helmer Favreau took on the direction, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Plot Concept: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Cowboys & Aliens invades theaters July 29, 2011.

Love Favreau. Think Harrrison Ford and Daniel Craig both are great... but this movie does not excite me at all. I hope to be pleasantly surprised when i see it.

Wiseguy 7/14/2011 8:22:12 AM

Ah ditto that Tevii, well the last sentence anyway.

Meh looks like a rental for me.

There really is such hypocrisy on this site! Shit like the grind house stuff is praised a while saying give us something new, give us something original... so much apathy for this in a puzzle to me. Not calling anyone out, JMO.

I think this has gotten better with every new preview they show. I wish they had pushed it back to the fall season when it wouldn't be up against Potter and Cap.

noahbody beat me to it. I don't understand the hate for this movie and Favreau. He delivered one of the best comic adaptations with Iron Man and he has a pretty decent track record in both acting/writing/directing. I'm going to see it. I think it will be a surprise hit. There's always one during the summer, I would count First Class but since it's part of a franchise I don't know. Cowboys and Aliens is at least an attempt at something different so I'll give it a chance.

Favreau, Ford, Craig, western, butt is there opening night.  I've seen enough and didn't bother to watch this clip.  I want everything to be a surprise.  This and Captain America are my summer tent poles.

That is one, slow alien spacecraft... He straight ran it down with a horse!

Wiseguy 7/14/2011 2:14:38 PM

What hate, where is it? Somebody point it out for me please. Apathy yes, hate no and who says that we have to be excited for every sci/fi film that comes out. We all like and look forward to different things.  I don't know why saying something isn't exciting them is hate and gets other peoples' panties in a bunch and act like little bitches, not talking about anyone on this thread.

Well it got  pissed on quite a bit with the clip posted the other day by various bloggers on this site. Of course like the rest of you not pointing to anyone in particular it just seems weird to me that this movie is giving people a bad vibe. JMO. The film looks good to me, definitely worth checking out.

noahbody 7/14/2011 2:46:03 PM

Wiseguy, there has been neutral/negative vibe running through every update on this movie. Again IMO I think it comes from the fact that alot of other movies are taking the spot light.

There are not many good sci fi or horror movies most of them are lame premises wrapped in bad acting packaged to sell to basic cable channels. I really hope (and belive it will) this will be a good one.

No one has to be happy for a Sci Fi movie, just as we don't have to be happy about another hit man movie, car chase movie, heist, or fifth installment in a  franchise that should have ended after the first ones credits rolled....  again just sayin.
