Months after revealing their first TV spot during the Super Bowl, Universal Pictures and director Jon Favreau have rolled out a second TV spot for Cowboys & Aliens. Watch the latest clip for their sci-fi adventure down below. The summer tent pole stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Ana de la Reguera and Abigail Spencer. Iron Man helmer Favreau took on the direction, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Plot Concept: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Cowboys & Aliens invades theaters July 29, 2011.

It's a funny thing but I'm just not feeling much love for this movie. I think any other year or maybe at a different time of the year it may have been different. But with Thor, Cap, X-Men, GL, Super 8, Transformers and all the other stuff this just isn't doing much for me. I'll still see it but it feels like left overs

Yeah, this looks to be one of those movies that gets lost in the shuffle of a busy summer movie season. But that being said it could strike a chord with people looking for something outside the box of the superhero genre. This might have been better off premiering earlier in the year say spring or maybe as a holiday release with a less crowded field to compete against. Add the fact that this movie doesn't seem to be as heavily promoted as other films this summer could be the kiss of death for this movie.

It looks like Harrison Ford is doing his best Gene Hackman impersonation.  Or is it just me?

violator14 5/25/2011 11:22:59 AM

This is like a cowboy Bourne Identity meets Battlefield:LA ( which I just watched recently btw and it was freaking awesome!)

Can't Wait!!! Cant wait for this whole summer!!

krathwardroid 5/25/2011 12:11:47 PM

Hell yeah! This has oodles more potential than the graphic novel! I like what Favreau has done here! :D

Wiseguy: Uh, what the hell does it matter what time of the year it is and what movies are being released opposite it? You can't fit one more friggin' movie like this into your schedule? Will it dilute the others? You can watch Sucker Punch but avoid Cowboys & Aliens on a cheap-o principle. That's rich.

TheMovieGuy28 5/25/2011 12:29:57 PM

Dang, there's a lot of love between Krath and Wise huh?

Wise, I understand what you mean about the previews, perhaps a feeling of underwhelmment(i know, not a word) b/c of all the other big tentpoles this year, and not just tentpoles but things people've been wanting to see for a while.

I think, however, it's not without a bit of Irony that it's released in August or late in the game for cleanup. Harrison Ford had another movie once released in August for clean-up, it was called the Fugitive. Perhaps you guys have heard of it?

I can see this film making a decent 125-150 US, and think it will do better in foreign markets because of the American Wild West aspect. Either way, it's got James Bond, Handiana Soljones, and sexiness herself, Olivia Wilde. Like I have anything better to do in August

TheMovieGuy28 5/25/2011 12:31:09 PM

Although, I do have to say Krath has a bit of a point. If you found not only time, but a way of sitting through sucker punch, dude, you have to have a spare 2 hours 2 months from now somewhere. It's just illogical to think otherwise ha

InnerSanctum 5/25/2011 12:58:29 PM

You know, it has two great elements, but I'm having trouble getting excited about this project.  Good actors, good director, interesting premise...just not feeling it.  Hopefully, it will be a good movie.
