See THE RETURNER for free at San Diego

With the San Diego Comic-Con happening this week, there will be all sorts of special screenings happening for attendees of the annual event. One more screening to talk about will be the American premiere of Takashi Yamazaki's THE RETURNER presented by the gang who put together Cinefantastique and Femme Fatales. The screening will take place in the evening of Thursday, July 17.

Combining elements of alien invasion, apocalyptic warfare action, time travel and modern day gangster carnage, THE RETURNER tells the story of a young woman named Milly who travels from the year 2084 to the present day in the hopes of saving the human race. Milly has travelled to the past to warn people of an extraterrestrial invasion that will happen and to find allies who will help her. She winds up in the middle of an urban war between Japanese crime boss Mizoguchi and a savvy hitman named Miyamoto. To save the destruction of the human race she must convince one of these men that her story of future destruction is real. Sounds like HARD BOILED meets INDEPENDENCE DAY meets THE TERMINATOR meets THE SOPRANOS, don't it?

Cinefantastique will be handing out free passes for the screening at their booth located at 3820 - 3822 in the convention hall. First come, first served!
