In an announcement where Sega stated they're making a new game based off the Adult Swim tv show BLEACH, they also revealed another set of next generation games on the way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter.

Rob Lightner, vp business development at Sega of America, suggested the games should appeal even to people who haven't seen "Bleach" on the small screen.

"A gamer can learn about the characters in the series by playing the game, and if they are already familiar with the 'Bleach' TV series it will make the game play experience even richer," he added.

Sega has been moving aggressively in recent years to leverage content from other entertainment media. The publisher is coming out with games for the holiday season based on the book "The Golden Compass," which also is a highly anticipated New Line film staring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig

"We also have games in the works based on licensed characters from Marvel such as Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America," Lightner said. "All of these games will benefit from huge fan bases that love the characters they have followed for years, and are now eager to take control and drive the experience personally."

Wait - does this mean Activision lost the Marvel license, or are these separate licenses?
Cause the X-Men Legends games, the Spider-Man games, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were all STELLAR.

I agree with Merin. Activision did a kick ass job on doing Marvel games. Hopefully Sega doesn't screw it up.

Marvel has the rights spread out to numerous companies. Activision has been handling the Spiderman games and the X Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate alliance stuff was just published by them. Sierra did the fantastic Hulk:Ultimate Destruction game, and I forget who was responsible for that stupid Marvel Nemisis fighting game from last year but it was crap, so who cares, and Universal did the weak game for the Hulk movie...

I'd really love to see a Gears of War style Captain America that takes place in WWII. Watch some videos for the upcoming DARK SECTOR, and you see the possibilty for great combat with Cap's Sheild. Hopefully Thor will be able to set itself apart from God of War. And since the last Hulk game was pretty much spot on, there's no excuse for screwing it up. Iron Man hasn't had great luck when it comes to games, but it's about time. Sega tends to screw up almost everything they touch though. Even their own mascot Sonic has been maligned by bad management and crappy game mechanics for a decade. Other than Condemned: Criminal Origins, they've left me unimpressed of late. Lets hope they take this responsibility seriously.

A lot of people are requesting that one, Gordon.

Unfortunately, Capcom no longer has the rights to licenses with Marvel. Hell, they can't even make a compiliation game with their previous Marvel vs (insert ) titles..

Here's a thread where Christian Svensson (Sr Director of Planning and Research) answers the Marvel vs Anything question..

That's sad = Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was the height of 2D fighters for me, brought back all the magic of early Street Fighter 2 days!

Sega . . . I dunno. I'll give their Marvel games a look.

More Activision Marvel games, please!

I guess it is time for them to make higher quality DC Vs Capcom games instead.
