Sega Unearths ALIEN Game

Sega has made a deal with 20th Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising to create a series of video games based on the ALIEN movies.

The company will develop multiple next-generation and PC video games set in the ALIEN universe, including a first-person shooter and a role-playing game. Sega is even talking with "actors from the films, including Sigourney Weaver and Lance Henriksen, to reprise their movie roles by providing their likenesses and voice roles for the games. "

The "story" will not follow the storylines in the films but will provide new experiences based on the history of the series.

The first product will ship in 2008.

i used to play the Alien game on my Sega Genesis. This sounds better than that old game though, anything Sega released for Genesis that was from a movie (Alien, Terminator) all basically sucked.

I'm glad they're releasing PC games, given Aliens vs Predator's excellent heritage (not including the film, obviously). It'll be interesting to see if they develop the games themselves or hire third-party talent. I'd love to see what Rebellion could do.

The alien game for Playstation wasn't bad. At least it was set like the Movie Alieans and you were a space marine kicking ass .

Screw Alien .. Do Aliens ! It's more fun when you have your pulse rifle blasting aliens.

They have a good opportunity to scare the crap out of us. Make a game that's spooky, eery, and makes our skin crawl through sound effects, lighting, and atmosphere.
Sure I'd love to be a Space Marine in that setting, heck I've dreamt about it many times, but maybe they can incorporate both.
Stick to the first two films! (The third is "okay" but the fourth was cheesy).

I got distracted in class when I wrote that. Was just thinking about the movies again.

In all honesty, I am not even much of a gamer. I just play WoW with a few buddies and don't really care what they do with this, I likely won't even notice when it comes out.

This would make a great "scary" game. An Action game would be boring...just another in a long line of forst person (I assume) shooters

You've never actually played one of those games, because otherwise you wouldn't be saying something like that.
That the AvP series hasn't been continued and perfected is criminal. It has more untapped potential than any other series of games.

Also, if you'd actually ever played AvP, you'd know that an action game can be very, very scary.

If they were smart they would add elements with the marines and thats fine if they make it a different story. As long as you can blast some alients to kingdom come!
