Director Peter Segal told SCI FI Wire the WGA strike has thrown his film production cycle out of sync. Normally, he'd hope to be further along on 'Shazam!' while his work on the current film 'Get Smart' winds down. However, the fact that John August has only recently been able to return to working on the script means that work on 'Shazam!' has been pushed back, leaving Segal without a project.
Segal says he's looking forward to some family time, and doesn't want to rush the Captain Marvel movie.
"It's going to be a huge movie. I mean, huge in scope and in price. And so you want to make sure you have a solid script and really pay attention to the casting and all the preproduction that goes into that. So, you know, I think when it's right, it'll be made," Segal told SCI FI.
