The Review!
OK. So you have a read a few reviews and Lain looks interesting but you're not sure. No problem. I have been into anime for all of 4 months. I started out looking for action, especially Mecha and took it from there. To date I was impressed with Ghost In The Shell and Ninja Scroll the most. I thought BGC was good, but I don't care for giggling little girls and too big eyes or other facial features.
So I grabbed the first 2 Lain discs. Watched the first tonight.

The best description of Lain would be Anime-Noir. This is anime that draws you in like a whirlpool as it progresses. It is unlike anything that I have seen before. Different animation techniques, angle cuts and style combine to present some of the most engrossing, textured anime I have seen. The story tosses out clues and you strive to align them and understand where it is going. Good Luck.

I have read that you can spend time discussing what you have seen and still wonder where it is going. This is no understatement.

Frankly, the next few months can't come quick enough to get the rest of the series. When done, this will be quite the marathon. I can't think of any anime that would have the repeated viewing value of Lain.
