Seth Rogen As The GREEN HORNET?

According to the LA Times, actor Seth Rogen is in final negotiations to star in the big screen adaptation of THE GREEN HORNET. You'll know Rogen from his recent films, KNOCKED UP & THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN.

Seth Rogen has entered into final negotiations to write and star in "The Green Hornet" for Columbia Pictures.

The studio announced in March that it had optioned the rights to the superhero property that follows the adventures of Brit Reid. A wealthy publisher of The Daily Sentinel by day, Reid roams as a masked crime fighter by night, dedicated to protecting the lives and rights of the city's citizens. Reid is accompanied by Kato, a chauffeur-bodyguard-personal assistant during business hours who transforms into a masked sidekick with a knack for martial arts when the sun goes down. The two cruise around town in a dark sedan known as the Black Beauty.

Neal H. Moritz is developing the project with Rogen via the producer's Original Film company. Moritz has been chasing the rights for years having been a big fan of the '60s television series. He declined to comment on Rogen's involvement.

While this should still be considered "rumor", this may become confirmed very soon. This is the second time the LA Times has reported Rogen being involved in this project.

I'm a little young to compare to the TV series, and I never read the comics, but is the Green Hornet supposed to be a pudgy Jewy slacker type?

this is their first mistake. i mean dont get me wrong, Seth Rogan is a good actor, and funny as hell and i personally love the guy. but that does NOT make him the green hornet, nor should he be the green hornet.

Remember a few years back when they were supposedly going to make a Green Lantern movie but with Jack Black? Everybody bitched about it until Warner changed their minds. Don't get me wrong I love Jack Black and Seth Rogen, but as comedic versions of super heros? Then again it might be hilarious, but if they are going the serious route this will be some horrible casting.

Maybe he will be going on a Nicole Ritchie diet?

Great! The Hornet is coming.
Not so great… he'll be a fat ass and always have a dumb look on his face. This has got to be the worst casting decision in recent months.

No, no, no...very dumb idea. I like Rogan a lot as a young comedic actor, and i understand that The Green Hornet will have a comedic slant. Rogan's all wrong for the role though, doesn't fit the look of millionaire publisher playboy Reid. Rogan should stick a little closer to his niche for future roles; he was brilliant in Knocked Up (the best movie I've seen this year). This news is about as bad as the Jack Black as Green lantern rumors that flew around a while back.

I thought this was already "in the works" and that they were looking at Jet Li to play Kato.

Maybe this should be a comedy.
