The front cover depicts a half-dressed schoolgirl with a couple of classic pink bullet vibrators, while the back cover shows a teacher with a more advanced sex toy technique. Maybe her student has plenty more to learn from her Sensei? While Icarus titles don’t have any color pages for extras, the good paper and solid printing make their books very attractive releases. This is especially true when compared to titles from other American publishers, current and defunct. Extras consist of an after word by the author explaining various aspects of the book, and the Icarus Pronunciation Guide.
Artwork:
I have been a fan of Matsuzawa’s art since Icarus’ release of his sex toy inspired book [I]Any Way I Want It[/I]. The art style between that book and [I]Sexual Serenade[/I] are very similar with the exception of the women. The women in [I]Any Way I Want It[/I] showed a little more body type variety than the girls in [I]Sexual Serenade[/I]. Don’t get me wrong, the girls in [I]Sexual Serenade[/I] are all very hot and well proportioned. Panel layout follows similar ero-manga, but remains nicely varied with panels in non-sex scenes following a squared scheme and shifting to odd-shaped panels and full-page spreads during sex scenes. Sex scenes are exciting, with speed lines providing the sense of motion and booby jiggle, and relatively little ‘juice flow’. Perfectly acceptable levels for those readers turned off by sweat and fluids flying every which way art style of other ero-manga artists.

Honorifics are present and the text reads well for the most part. The Japanese SFX remain, English translations are not provided. The somewhat usual amount of misspellings found in Icarus titles is present.

Seems Matsuzawa has a swimsuit fetish as three stories revolve around school swimsuits or bloomers. Both swimsuit stories are interesting as the first has a girl following her classmate home because she secretly wants to sleep with him. He makes her put on her school swimsuit before showing her how much of a good time they can have together. The second story takes place at the indoor pool after all the other athletes have gone home for the day, leaving two former teammates to discuss old times. It has been a long time since these two have hooked up, but it seems the girl still has all her special abilities intact.
The ‘Off Campus Guidance’ story has one of the cutest girls I’ve seen in ero-manga. After school forced Miyu to quit the maid café, she quickly found another job that allowed her to fulfill her cosplay needs; shrine maiden. It is certainly a legit job, but I don’t know if her activities in the backroom are actually part of the job description. But she looks damn cute in that shrine maiden outfit.
For those of us with the older woman fetish, ‘What I Can Do’ fits that need. Mizuki Sensei knows what she wants and takes it when she wants it, whether with her fellow teachers or students. After taking a physical lesson from the gym teacher, Mizuki taunts one of her students with her body. Will the boy crumble under her dominating personality, or teach her a little respect?
Of course, for those of us with the need for crazy sex scenes, there are two orgy stories in this book. The first is kind of sweet as a couple new to dating end up losing their virginity while their friends are having sex in the same room. Eventually things get extra hot as the more experienced girl shows the other couple just how kinky sex can be. If sweet isn’t your style, there is also the story of two girls that ride the men’s subway car in order to get their sexual fill on the way home everyday.

Originally published two years after [I]Any Way I Want It[/I], [I]Sexual Serenade[/I] focuses less on sex toys than its predecessor. Many of the stories in [I]Sexual Serenade[/I] play off the interaction between characters and their sempai’s. Whether it’s the older swimmer giving his younger classmate ‘lessons’, or the track coach giving her runner some extra ‘encouragement’, there is equal treatment between the male and female characters being the aggressor. There is a variety of sexual positions and a couple orgy scenes to spice things up. Definitely a book for those that enjoyed [I]Any Way I Want It[/I], and any fans of consensual sex between friends!
