Will Smith is the New CAPTAIN AMERICA? - Sep 09, 2008 - 08:39am
Hanso,As a black person myself, I do not feel that Will Smith should be playing Captain America. Hollwywood needs to put down the character reimagining crackpipe, put together a good origin story for CA and find the the right actor for the job. Now using the John Stewart Green Lantern character [that Warner Bros wants to use] in a Justice League movie is a different issue. They are not making Hal Jordan black they (WB) would use an incarnation of GL who [in the comics] is black. Bruce Timm stated in a TV Guide guote (when he made the John Stewart Green Lantern, Hawk Girl and Wonder Woman members of the TV incarnation on Cartoon Network's Justice League in 2001) that he did not want the JL to be a bunch of white guys in tights.I know this probably will not happen, but could you imagine an Avengers movie and a Justice League movie opening the same weekend... WOW!! :-)

Stargate: Atlantis to End After Season Five

http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/08/21/stargate-atlantis-canceled-kind-of/
There may be financial issue regarding this series' ending (US\Canadian exchange rates, tax credits).
But this news still SUCKS.
I know this isn’t the right spot for it, but I figured the discussion needed to be started somewhere since there is not a news item on this site about this story currently.
Oh well, at least we have that last half of season five (in 2009) and the SGA movie to look forward to.
Get Bonnie Hammer the hell away from SciFi Channel!
Isaac Hayes Passes Away at 65 - Aug 10, 2008 - 09:35pm
I found a picture online from the upcoming movie Soul Men (featuring Samuel L. Jackson) in which two estranged soul-singing legends participate in a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater to honor their recently deceased band leader.
I am not sure if the picture was a scene from the movie or if it was a group photo taken while the cameras were not rolling.
The picture featured two other people with Mr. Jackson.
They were Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes.
The picture is from Mr. Hayes web site:
http://www.isaachayes.com/myframes.html
Here’s to hoping (and praying) that SLJ doesn’t check out for a long while.
RIP to Bernie and Isaac.

SDCC: Day Remake Will Definitely Have a Gort - Jul 27, 2008 - 09:41pm
If you want to stop studios from remaking classic stories into modern motion pictures then you should own the content (stories in print form, classic TV shows and movies), therefore they would not be able to do what they are doing. I agree with the sentiments of WolfmanX and Redshirt1 that remakes are not necessarily bad if done well. Taking the time and putting together a good story is the difference between classics such as (and I know these are not remakes) The Empire Strikes Back, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and misfires like X-Men 3 and the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.
IMHO, I feel that a remake of this film will not impact the classic status of the original film. The new film will rise or fall based on the quality of its own screenplay.
First Teaser Trailer for RIGHTEOUS KILL - Mar 09, 2008 - 08:51pm
Just what we need, another gritty and sophisticated New York City crime thriller.
Hollywood can never make too many of those. :-)
I guess after The Departed, the tinseltown filmmakers want to see if lightning will strike again with another New York crime drama.
Official INDIANA JONES Teaser Online - Feb 15, 2008 - 11:13am
May 22nd is my birthday. Therefore this will be a great treat for myself. :-)
Perhaps there will be a Star Trek trailer attached. It sucks that we will have to wait until May 2009 for that film. However, the extra time could be used to "polish" the story. I hope.
Milo Ventimiglia Joins Heist in ARMORED - Jan 25, 2008 - 08:01am
Maybe the producers of the Rambo franchise could do a "reboot" and Milo Ventimiglia could play the young John Rambo (the studios seem to be reimagining a lot of film franchises these days).
CLOVERFIELD Monster Attacks January Records - Jan 20, 2008 - 10:55pm
Did anyone catch the orchestral piece that thundered about during the end credits of Cloverfield. It was called ROAR! (Cloverfield Overture) by Michael Giacchino who is J.J. Abrams primary film\T.V. music composer. It is the only piece of orchestral score music in the entire film (the other music is the dance music played during Robs surprise going-away party in the movies first act). Giacchino makes great use of trumpets and drums and the piece is reminiscent of classic monster movie themes. It reminds me of a lot of John Williams scores but particularly it reminds me of Alan Silvestris work from Van Helsing.
Excellent!
First still of STAR TREK'S Enterprise online - Jan 18, 2008 - 02:31pm
I believe that George and Winona Kirk are James T. Kirk's parents.
View the official teaser trailer (someone snuck a camera into the theater) before it gets yanked and replaced with the official posted trailer on Monday!! :-)

Official STAR TREK Site Online - Jan 17, 2008 - 04:59pm
Wrrlykam, thanks for the update. I haven't checked the Star Trek (2008) page on IMDb in a while. I should have known Abrams would stick with someone he has collaborated with on past television and feature film work.
Although Giacchino did do a nice score for The Incredibles.
Official STAR TREK Site Online - Jan 17, 2008 - 12:28pm
Monkeyfoot, John Dykstra (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Spider Man 2) and Douglas Trumbull (2001: A Space Odessey, The Andromeda Strain, Silent Running, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blade Runner) worked on the VFX for ST: TMP not ILM (although Dykstra worked at ILM during the production of Star Wars Episode IV).
To me Star Trek: The Motion Picture was the most epic scale Trek film of the franchise and First Contact was the best of the TNG films. The Final Frontier was Shatners attempt to do T.J. Hooker in outer space.
IMHO Jerry Goldsmith was the best composer for the franchise. However, I think that we may need a new main theme for this reboot attempt. Mr. Goldsmiths ST main theme with its naval-type tone seems sometimes out of place in settings other than galavanting through space (such as ground battles, moments of quiet reflection, etc). I believe the franchise needs a more flexible central theme [perhaps scored by Mr. Goldsmiths son Joel] with a more adventurous, emotional and harder-driving theme (like John Williams Star Wars main theme). Mr. Goldsmiths original main theme should retitled The Enterprise.
I wonder if John Williams could be brought in to score this one?

Tyler Perry Heads to STAR TREK - Dec 30, 2007 - 11:05pm
Well LOTRSUXS, as a black person who is both a Star Trek and Star Wars fan (I began watching TOS episodes as a grade schooler back in the early 1970's) it seems to me that you do not interact with people of color in your daily life. If you did then you would know that Star Trek appeals to people of color (including black folks) because of the positive depiction of the various races of man working\living\serving together in the future (were a loooong way away from that future).
There are times when I see TV documentaries regarding the influence of Star Trek on pop culture, that I see stories of various peoples of color who went into careers in medicine, science etc who were inspired by the non-stereotypical portrayals of people of color on Star Trek: TOS, the films and subsequent TV spin-offs.
With regard to this upcoming film, I feel that Viacom\Paramount is showing a lack of creativity (a movie studio not willing to take risks, that would never happen :-)) in attempting this reboot instead of creating a new story premise with new characters in the 24th Century timeline.
I also feel that Viacom\Paramount is unwilling to allow for the creative powers-that-be to visualize Star Trek film on the same scope and scale of a Star Wars film while retaining its unique storytelling style.
Who knows, this new film may prove as successful as the Galactica series reboot. Only time will tell.
TOS 'Guardian' Writer Ellison Denies STAR TREK Rumor - Dec 14, 2007 - 09:49am
Why are you guys still using a “mirrored” version of that Original Series cast photo featuring McCoy (Kelley), Uhura (Nichols), Kirk (Shatner) and Spock (Nimoy)?
Can you not tell that the Starfleet badges are on the wrong side?
Washington Riding the PELHAM with Scott - Sep 24, 2007 - 10:58am
Do you guys remember Washington and Crowe working together in Virtuosity back in 1995? I believe that was their first on-screen collaboration. Anyway I think that Denzel Washington should go for the title role in the upcoming "Gemini Man" project. This film is being worked on (pre-production) by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer The story centers on an over-the-hill assassin forced to do battle with a younger clone of himself. Obviously this will involve extensive CGI interplay. Washington is the right age. He should go for it.
THE 4400: The Great Leap Forward Season Finale - Sep 18, 2007 - 10:03am

I guess marco is sort of a teleporter. It seems he can look at a picture and he's in that location, yet unlike Hiro in Heroes, he cannot time jump.
** End Spoiler Alert **

Favreau Updates on IRON MAN Flying Rumor - Sep 17, 2007 - 01:30pm
Does anybody remember the trailer for Twister that featured tractor wheel (or was it a truck wheel) being plucked off and hurled toward the camera?
Oh, and mckracken, a copy of the SpiderMan teaser trailer exists.

"Does this mean the government will put $6 million dollars into Isaiah in order to make him less of a homophobe?"
No, that would take $6 Billion.
Seriously... seriously! -)
Anyway, his addition to the cast may add a little extra cache to the show. Let's just see what happens.
"The Kingdom" moves dates - Feb 07, 2007 - 12:15pm
"We had screenings at the high end of extraordinary," said a studio executive.
Of course a studio executive would say that. The question is how will moviegoers out here in the "real world" receive this film?
"Heroes'" Sylar is Misunderstood? - Jan 29, 2007 - 10:25am
Hey folks,
Actress Jayma Mays who played Charlie (Hiro's first love) on Heroes is featured in the parody\spoof flick Epic Movie which was released this past weekend.
"Transformers" Trailer Online - Dec 21, 2006 - 05:56am
I believe we will see another trailer featuring more detailed performances from the Autobot and Decepticon characters. We may also hear a bit of the vocal performances from Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. This trailer would probably come out a few months before the movies release. Just to fan the flames of anticipation a wee bit more. :-)
"Live Free or Die Hard" Trailer Online - Dec 18, 2006 - 12:23am
Has anybody realized that this film wil be released on the same Tuesday as Transformers?
Remembering Shirley Walker - Dec 07, 2006 - 07:50pm

Her score for Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm was awesome.
R.I.P. Shirley Walker.

HARRY POTTER 5 Casting News - May 26, 2006 - 10:06am
I didn't know Lupin the 3rd was going to be in a Harry Potter film. :-)
SHOOTER Hits Danny Glover - May 26, 2006 - 10:02am
The movie featuring Keenan Ivory Wayans and Jon Voight was called Most Wanted.
X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND - May 26, 2006 - 09:53am
Corrections:
There was too much choir music [used] in the scenes.
Additionally, I should know how to spell Spielberg by now. :-)
Sorry for the Friday-morning fat-fingering on the keyboard.
X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND - May 26, 2006 - 09:46am
I equate X3 with the first X-Men feature.
Basically (like the original Star Wars trilogy), X2 was the best of this three-part series. There were good parts in the film but also a lot of awkward moments. The music used during the scenes when the Phoenix\Jean Grey lets her hair down (psychokinetically) was out of place. There was too much choir music user in the scenes. They would have been better off not using any music at all for that part like Speilberg did during the Normandy Invasion scenes in Saving Private Ryan. Ultimately it's Fox's fault for wanting to go ahead with making this film without having a better script in place. They should have "brainstormed" more after Singer's departure to do Superman Returns. On that issue, the Superman Returns trailer attached to this film is very different from the teaser and two current trailers that available for viewing on the net. A lot more action is shown in that promo piece. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this film.
How about posting a link to that trailer? :-)
Oh, and the Ghost Rider trailer looks good on the big screen.
Megan Gale http://lacuevadellobo.blogspot.com/2008/08/megan-gale-es-la-nueva-candidata-para.html Ohh la la! :-)
