Hopefully unlike Bane, who was based to a great extent on Doc Savage, he won't be wearing a gas mask...

The only saving grace from the 1976 Doc Savage was Ron Ely as Doc, an excellent actor who did well in the part.

The Rock has the size, build and articulate enough to pull off the intelligence. Get a good creative crew, and I think he'd do okay. I remember the Ron Ely version, probably the last ever done. Give it to the Rock!

supercollector 5/13/2013 2:39:12 PM he can mess this up too?

Instead of Doc Savage, we need a new Buckaroo Banzai.  They were basically the same character, but Buckaroo has more potential because it's easier to get weird.

Nah, I can't see the Rock as Savage.  The build and personality just doesn't seem right to me.

I seem to remember Shane Black reading a Doc Savage comic book in the credit sequence for Predator, interesting.

It's got to be better than that goofy George Pal abomanation. It's a shame really because Ron Ely was a good actor with the perfect build for the role. And it basically damaged his career beyond repair. It could have been a breakout role for him but it slammed the door on it.

Reek, I loved Buckaroo Banzi as well. I know the director and screenwriter wanted to do a sequel once it became a cult hit. but there was alot of animosity between them and the head of the production house that owned the rights. He refused to let them make a sequel even though he would make money off of it. That was over 10 years ago. I don't know what the status of the property is now but I suspect the window of opportunity on a 30 year old cult movie has probably past.

I know you guys will probably string me up for this one, but I was thinking maybe Billy Zane could fit the role. He's the rigbt age, and if he hits the gym ,would have the physique. I definitely don't see the Rock doing this, he doesn't fit the character. What do you think?
