Shanks Exiting STARGATE SG-1?

Word has come that actor Michael Shanks has chosen to exit the ongoing STARGATE SG-1 TV series.
According to sources in contact with the SCIFI website, the actor will leave the series at the end of the current fifth season. There's no word on why he chose to leave, but the site reports that he may make guest appearances in the program's sixth season, which will only be shown on the SCIFI Channel.
