It's not often that an actor would describe being cast as a classic villain in a major upcoming comic tentpole as "rediculous" but that's Michael Shannon for you. Just two days after Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed the "Boardwalk Empire" star would be suiting up as General Zod in Zack Snyder's fast-tracking reboot, Man of Steel, the folks over at /Film caught up with the actor at the RiverRun International Film Festival.
One of the most obvious questions that comes to mind is how he felt about being cast in the production and going toe-to-toe against one of the most known superheroes of all-time.
"It's ridiculous!" said Shannon. "It just came out of nowhere. I'm talking to my agent and she goes, 'How about Superman?' 'What?' The idea that I would ever be in 'Superman'. 'Are you serious?'"
The actor also revealed that he performed a successful screen test opposite the next Supes, Henry Cavill, and described the actor's potential as the next Man of Steel with "I think this guy'll be alright."
