MGM and Fox 2000 have cast the eldest of the three Bowen for Poltergeist. The Touch’s Saxon Sharbino will play Kendra. Sharbino will join Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt for the update on the horror classic.

Here is a breakdown of her character: “Sharbino's Kendra is a typical teen, isolating herself from her family to focus on her friendships. But when she realizes that her new home feeds on the isolation of others, she must band together with her family to help save her youngest sibling”.

Sam Raimi (Evil Dead) and Rob Tapert (Evil Dead) are producing the remake/ reboot via their Ghost House Pictures banner. Gil Kenan (City of Ember) is directing the film.

Poltergeist is slated for a 2014 release.

Um. No. This is going to suck big time. I'll pass.

Another remake that's not needed.  How do you top a steak crawling across a kitchen counter spewing guts and a guy ripping his face off?  Another pointless money grab.

Hollywood's logo is "if you can't top it, remake it".

Yeah, I really don't see the need for a remake. I always say why not be inspired by the original to make your own story. But Raimi and Tapert got lots o' dough from their Evil Dead remake so there's plenty of incentive to do it again.

I Think Ian Dury said it best when he sang: "What a waste..."

I logged in JUST so I could do this:

even the synopsis sounds awful.

hmm, all these comments sound so familiar.  Oh yeah, they're all the same comments I hear about all the remakes when they're first announced, and when they do come out most of you go "Hey that actually wasn't that bad".  I'll wait for the trailer to come out before I pass judgement.

I agree with Ferret you have to skip the dipshit posts.
