Darabont's modern classic hits theaters for two weeks this fall

One of the great moviegoing pleasures is seeing your favorite films on the big screen. And sometimes, the Hollywood gods grant us small favors in the guise of special promotional events. Such is the case with The SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION.

This fall marks SHAWSHANK's 10th anniversary, and Warner Home Video has two big birthday presents for us. The first is a limited theatrical rerelease of the film on September 24 in eight cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Austin).

Then, a couple weeks later (October 5, to be exact), Warners is releasing a special two-disc DVD that includes a new audio and video transfer and two new documentaries. There's even a limited edition box set that has a film historian's book detailing the movie's production, and even a soundtrack CD.

So grab your Rita Hayworth poster, look for a rock that doesn't belong, and we'll see you at that beach where the ocean seems to go on forever. And remember, hope can set you free.
