Confident much? I would be. Downey Jr. is CASH IN THE BANK.

Robert Downey Jr. must have liked what screenwriter Drew Pearce penned for the script of Iron Man 3. THR is reporting that the scribe has been brought in for another third installment of a Downey-led franchise in being tasked to flesh out a story for Sherlock Holmes 3.
The news comes two months before Guy Ritchie's second installment, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, enters theaters but the suits over at Warner Bros. Pictures seem to be confident a third tale is warranted and has given the go-ahead. As the trade recalls, the studio was as sure the first time around after hiring Michele and Kieran Mulroney to flesh out a sequel three months before the first film arrived in theaters back in December 2009.
Watch the latest trailer for the second adventure down below. The film will star Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Jared Harris, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Fry and Rachel McAdams. Director Guy Ritchie returned to the helming duties.
I'm up for more Holmes, so this sounds good. Kind of worried from the trailers that I may not like part 2 as much as part 1, but still looks like it should be worth the watch. (And I'm sure if the sequel isn't on par with the original, then that will be a shocker as every sequel in movie history is much better than the first...) :)
In any event, give me more RDJ!
And on a complete side note, I remember the days (about 2 decades ago) when I had a hard time keeping Robert Downey Jr straight from Morton Downey Jr (I may have even thought they were father/son once upon a time.) My how time changes...
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo comes out the next Wednesday and may keep Sherlock Holmes from completely running away with it, but I agree with Hobbs that a second sequel is pretty much a no brainer.
Bring on more Holmes! I'd like to see them do a remake of The Hound of the Baskervilles with the same actors.
I'm excited for this, even if I did find the first one disappointing.
Miner49er, while I like Hound of the Baskervilles, I don't see this group of actors doing that film. Mainly because Watson is more of the lead character in that story (well, not really, but he would get a lot more screen time). Maybe they could do it near the end of the series if RDJ didn't want to commit a lot of his schedule.
Really, I would be surprised if they ever adapt any of the Doyle stories straight to a movie, as it seems they are coming up with their own stories. Admittedly, it has been a looong time since I've read the Holmes books, so I guess it is possible they are taking more from the source material than I remember.
In any event, they seem to be staying true to the spirit of the character (with a dash more action, comedy, flare, etc) so as long as they keep that up, it's cool with me.
I have to admit this is a no brainer as far as writing the 3rd one already. You know this is going to be the biggest hit of the Xmas season even if it does suck.
