Warner Bros. Pictures is injecting some viral into Sherlock Holmes this weekend as they've launched a new website centered around the upcoming movie. To check it out, click here. When the box display comes up asking you to "Help Find Her", type in Sherlock's love-interest "IRENE".
Once you do, a hooded man will begin talking. For now that's it along with an email sign up but with the film still being months away before it investigates theaters on Christmas Day, we're sure more viral updates are on the horizon.
It should also be noted that director Guy Ritchie recently confirmed to MTV that arch nemesis Moriarty will be making "some kind of appearance" in the film as well.
"Some kind of an appearance is probably the best way to describe it," the Holmes director said. When pressed, and asked if an actor is credited as Moriarty, Ritchie's reply was "I believe not."
The interview was conducted before the recent Brad Pitt cameo (as Mori) rumors appeared.
The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan and Kelly Reilly. Ritchie helmed the production from a screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Johnson and Anthony Peckham.
Plot Concept: In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters, "Sherlock Holmes" sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.
Sherlock Holmes will hit theaters Christmas Day 2009.
