According to Shia LaBeouf in an interview with Sci Fi Wire, Variety's report that he was in final negotiations to star in the upcoming film, Indiana Jones 4, is false.

"Look, those were rumors that got started on the Internet, and it's a great idea, and it would be fun to talk about, but I don't have the part," LaBeouf said.  "Hey, I can't keep a secret. If it were true, I'd talk about it. I'll tell everyone."

"I know that when I have a job I sign contracts, I talk to directors, and that hasn't happened, and until that happens, I'm out of work. I'm looking at a bunch of different things."

LaBeouf later said that it would be a dream job and he would love to score a role in the film, but that it hasn't been offered.

KJ's Take:  Oopsie Variety.  Not very often one of the trades prints a false story.

I'm kind of glad to hear this. This kid hasn't really impressed me and he keeps turning up in things. I wonder why... Maybe I will feel differently after Transformers.

He's a pretty damned good actor, even in Holes. Watch him in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" and um, that one movie where he's obsessed with World War reinactments. He's pretty damned good. Wow, I said that already. Guessed I could have used my delete button.

I like Shia. He's got a certain quality about him that adds a welcome lighthearted vibe to the scenes he's in. Give the guy a chance. I'm looking forward to Transformers like no other, and I think he'd definately fit the Indy jr profile

Loved the kid in Constantine.... even though it was a small role... too bad

Wait wait wait... I thought everyone agreed that from now on, whenever you had a Shia LeBouf picture it would always be the one from Transformers with the hot chick's near nip-slip.

That's it! If I can't get that picture with my Shia stories, I'm never coming back to this dog and pony show website!

Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is ok, but I didn't really want to see this happen.

The idea makes sense to me. Three generations of Jones'. I think LaBeouf would be perfect for the role. Probably a lot more innocent as Indy, but just as curious.

He'll probably get it next.

Oh well, the kid doesn't look like Indy.

Too bad River Phoenix isn't still around. He would have been great to play Indy, Jr. after his part in Last Crusade. I had though Shia was a bit young to be playing Indy's kid. They have repeatedly said that Harrison Ford's age, and therefore Indy's age, would be addressed in this movie, so I would think they would want someone a little older to play Jr. Maybe mid 30s?

One of the rumors of the Indy 4 script is that he will have a kid.

If not Shia, then who? I can not think of anyone else....
