DESTRO from G.I. JOE - May 07, 2008 - 08:25pm
It seems like the mask is going to be more of an homage to the cartoon than a staple of this movie's version of Destro. I don't mind this choice since it would be extremely difficult to have any connection to him if he runs around in a metal mask all the time, especially if he is playing the villian with the most screen time. You wouldn't get to see any of his emotions or reactions either. In fact I can't imagine a more boring bad guy than some dude in silver mask. Personally, I'll withold judgment until I see the film.
Del Toro Talks About HOBBIT Films - Apr 28, 2008 - 02:45pm
Man, I am so happy Guillermo del Toro is directing this. If I could have hand picked anyone besides P.J. it would be him. He sounds like he really knows the LotR mythos and I would love it if they found some way to reunite all the major cast members. My idea: "The Hobbit" film opens up with Bilbo at his own "going away" party right before he and Frodo leave for the Gray Havens and all of the surviving Fellowship are there as Bilbo begins rambling on and actually narrates the how he met Gandalf and became the company's "burglar." I guess we'll see though.
Dresden Files: Small Favor - Apr 15, 2008 - 05:00pm
You guys realize this has already been adapted as a TV series by Sci-Fi, right? Unfortunatley it only lasted one season and was canceled. Sad too, because the show actually pretty good.
Ian McKellen Responds to HOBBIT Prequels - Mar 26, 2008 - 01:05am
Hell yes. I wouldn't want anyone but Sir Ian to play this role. And to think, we actually get to see more of Gandalf the Grey who I liked better than Gandalf the White anyway:)
Tolkien Estate Sues New Line - Feb 14, 2008 - 06:33am
Notice how this lawsuit comes right before "The Hobbit" and the other prequel film are set to go into pre-production and right after it was announced that the Writer's Strike has officially ended. A calculated move? Methinks 'tis so.
Luke Goss Playing Fox in TEKKEN - Feb 09, 2008 - 08:14pm
Did it ever occur to anyone that Luke Goss is simply engaging in a little self promotion by claiming he is "leading" the film? Who else but Luke Goss has said anything at all about this movie? What other cast members have been announced? Maybe they mean he is simply the first actor to officially be cast? Wow, you know what? I just realized I don't care.
Luke Goss Playing Fox in TEKKEN - Feb 09, 2008 - 12:25am
Wow, jump to conclusions much? All it says is that the guy was cast as Steve Fox. It makes no mention that the character is going to be the film's star. Yeesh.
Destro Has been Cast?? - Jan 30, 2008 - 07:20pm
Man, Michael Dorn as Destro. We can dream, can't we?
Update: Quaid, Vosloo & Tatum Confirmed For G.I JOE - Jan 29, 2008 - 08:10am
Jarrod, I now see where it says Vosloo will play Zartan. I know it still isn't confirmed yet be I hope he's Destro instead of Zartan. It just seems to fit him more.
Update: Quaid, Vosloo & Tatum Confirmed For G.I JOE - Jan 28, 2008 - 11:04pm
So did they say who Arnold Vosloo is playing? He's The Mummy guy, right? If it's Destro I have to say I'm pretty pumped and will forgive these fagtards for their Duke-casting shenanigans.
Update: Quaid, Vosloo & Tatum Confirmed For G.I JOE - Jan 28, 2008 - 08:30am
Ah, shit. I can see it now:
Duke: "Yo, what up CC? Da Joes fidna serve all you evil bitches! Dats right, dawg, it's a DANCE OFF!"
Cobra Commander: "COBRA!"
Fuck.
Update: Ledger's Autopsy Is Inconclusive - Jan 22, 2008 - 02:47pm
Normally when an entertainer dies, I kind of take note of it and say, "Man, that's a shame." But I was actually shocked when I saw that headline. I know it's been said already, but this is going to cast an unwanted pall of sadness over the release of "The Dark Knight." What bittersweet swansong.
Michael Bay Prepping TRANSFORMERS 2 - Jan 20, 2008 - 04:56pm
I'm so glad I'm not burdened with the stigma of high standards. Basically, I watch movies to pass the time; I don't sit there picking it apart trying to find what's wrong with it. Yes, there are some movies I like and some I don't care for. That's about as far as it goes. But it is interesting to log in to sites like this and watch people froth at the mouth about how they could do so much better than these "hacks" who write, direct and produce movies. The fact is, it quite obviously doesn't matter what any of us may think about Bay or any other director. If their films make money, studios will continue funding a director's projects as long as that director has a good history at the box office...or in some cases even if they DON'T. Uwe Boll doesn't count though, he funds his own projects. So gripe all you want about how crappy this or that director is, or how abyssmal the acting was, or how much you hate a certain actor. If it produces cash that's all that matters to the studios. And because of this, fine folks like us will never run out of stuff to debate about. It's all part of the great Circle of Life (cue Elton John)...
Top 6 Reasons 2008 Could be the Year of PS3 - Jan 15, 2008 - 06:28am
I love how the writer of this article expects someone from Microsoft to talk about all the shiny new exclusive titles coming out in 2008 TWO WEEKS into the new year. I guess it never occurred to him that there are simply titles in the works that PR did not want him revealing yet? So by this article's logic, since ONE guy at Microsoft doesn't reveal their entire line-up of exclusives for 2008 well, gee, there must not be ANY exclusives at ALL coming out, besides what has already been revealed.
While several good points were made in this article, and I do think the PS3 is picking up steam, Sony still has a ton of catching up to do and Microsoft needs to fight to keep its position. Does anyone honestly believe that, aside from the exclusives already announced, MS has NOTHING else planned for 2008? Can we please wait longer than TWO WEEKS into the new year before drawing a final conclusion based on little or no information? Again, I'm not saying the PS3 won't pull ahead this year, but there were a lot of titles that are 360 exclusive that weren't even mentioned: Lost Odyssey, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Warhammer: Battle March, Infinite Undiscovery, Banjo Kazooie, Gears of War 2, Guilty Gear 2 Overture...the list really does go on and on. Now, are all of these exclusives going to be AAA marquee titles? Maybe not. But the point is there are still a lot of exclusives that will be coming from out for the 360 in 2008 and while its exclusives may not be as strong as the PS3 this year, the 360 still has a much larger installed user base than the PS3. Either way, look at these games people, 2008 is going to rock!
SUPERMAN on Hold, JLA Trouble Continues - Jan 12, 2008 - 07:08am
Personally, I would like it if they just axed the entire idea that Superman now has a son. I think it detracts from the movie and the mythos as a whole. Fix that and then add in either Darkseid or Mongul or hell even Braniac as the main villian with Luthor as a background player and that would solve a lot of gripes about Superman Returns.
Snake Eyes Cast For G.I JOE - Dec 05, 2007 - 06:59pm
TKay, I agree Jason Scott Lee would be an awesome Stormshadow, mostly since his eyes are one of the most dominant things about the character and he has that "I'm gonna kick yer ass" look. Nice.
New Look at Ledger's JOKER - Nov 27, 2007 - 10:25pm
I don't particularly care for the look myself, however I will withold judgment until I see how he portrays the J man. That's what will really sell me.
Vanderbilt Writing SPIDER-MAN 4 - Oct 31, 2007 - 08:12am
Wessmith, I love your idea but instead of the Goblin at the end I would like it to hint that it is the Chameleon instead given his close brother-like relationship to Kraven.
SPIDER-MAN 3: Two Disc Special Edition - Oct 28, 2007 - 12:46pm
Actually, the character of Dr. Conners was introduced in the original Spider-man film and also appeared in the second one as well. Just FYI.
SCORPION KING Prequel Starts Filming - Oct 19, 2007 - 01:33am
For your consideration, I would like to suggest another title for this prequel:
The Scorpion King: Rise of the Unremarkable, Straight-to-DVD, Unnecessary Sequel, Pathetic Pile of Crap-covered, Crap- filled, Crap-on-a-Stick Money Making Ploy. Thank you very much.
ANACONDA 3 and 4 To Sci-Fi Channel - Oct 08, 2007 - 03:02am
Let me guess, the plot revolves around a washed up 80s has-been doing battle with giant snakes in his quasi-futuristic talking car while singing badly enunciated German pop songs. How close am I?
Jackman Training for WOLVERINE Action - Oct 06, 2007 - 10:57pm
Even though I think he is too tall for Wolverine, he neverthless does a pretty decent job of portraying him.
'Jason' Confirmed for FRIDAY THE 13th Remake - Oct 02, 2007 - 08:34am
I think they should call movies like this a reboot. I mean, it's not a remake and not really a reimagining given the changes that are being made...
Robert Jordan Passes Away - Sep 17, 2007 - 10:14pm
What a legend. Sad to hear this but the man definately left his mark. Long live Lord Dragon!
Tyler Mane Looking For THOR - Aug 29, 2007 - 05:30pm
I like Tyler Mane but I just don't think he fits the role very well. I picture Thor speaking with bit of a British lilt and I don't know if he could pull that off believably.
What did Singer Pitch For SUPERMAN Sequel? - Aug 28, 2007 - 01:04am
I HATE the fact that they gave Superman a kid. Worst plot move ever, it killed the movie for me. Bryan Singer is a great director but he dropped the ball on this one.
Warner Bros Has SUPERMAN Cast in JLA Movie? - Aug 25, 2007 - 07:46pm
I think I would be okay with Welling as Supes. Better than Routh at least, he was just to kiddish to wear the cape. But who to cast as Batman? I know....TOM WELLING!
ALIENS VS. PREDATOR 2 Image Online - Aug 24, 2007 - 10:39pm
Why in the hell is the story still set on Earth? Earth is gay. But hey, at least it's not being directed by M. Night Shamalamadingdong with some retarded twist at the end that reveals that the war between the species spans back across the eons to the dawn of their hatred in the form of a nasty legal battle about who owns the rights to H.P. Lovecraft's estate...
Stephen Sommers Back on G.I JOE - Aug 24, 2007 - 09:44am
COBRA is real. And this is just one of their many real world plots to usurp international good will and tolerance. Did you know Sommers spelled backwards is COBRA!?!? It's a conspiracy. It doesn't matter. Now that I have revealed the truth, I'll be looking over my shoulder for assassins for the rest of my li.......what was that!?!?..........BLAM!
Routh, Bale Out of JUSTICE LEAGUE - Aug 22, 2007 - 06:08pm
I was never a fan of Routhe as Superman so I like the idea of Superman being re-cast. Bale has done a great job as Batman, but the newer films are good not because of his acting but because of the story and direction. So as far as I am concerned, both Routhe and Bale are expendable. Bring on the JLA!
Ejiofor For Singleton's BLACK PANTHER? - Aug 15, 2007 - 05:26am
This would be awesome, he's perfect. I only hope they choose to go with the "classic" Black Panther look instead of the crappy one from the animated Ultimate Avengers 2.
Sega Exec Demands PS3 Price Cut - Jul 04, 2007 - 10:55pm
How is Sega's statement a "demand for a price cut." It sounds like good advice to be sure, but I love it how this site makes it sound like Sega has that much clout still.
THE DARK KNIGHT'S Batpod - Jun 18, 2007 - 06:03pm
Machine guns?! So how long until Nolan has Bats mowing people down gangsta style?
Hall Hangs With DARK KNIGHT - May 21, 2007 - 05:04pm
Edward Nigma maybe? I'd be cool with that, hella better than "Rubberface" Carrey.
A Look at Ledger as the Joker - May 20, 2007 - 07:40pm
Well, I guess I'll be the first to say it: I don't like it. I appreciate trying to make the new series of Batman films darker and more gothic but that just looks gross, kind of like the makeover the Joker got in the comics. I'll still see the movie but this is a bit extreme.
Madsen Faces HAUNTING - May 15, 2007 - 09:16pm
Watch this be another PG-13 crapfest like "The Messangers."
"Rise of the Silver Surfer" Poster - Feb 27, 2007 - 09:08pm
Since when was there a "lawsuit" where Marvel sued Marvel for using Johnny Blaze in place of Johnny Storm, or vice versa? Johnny Storm has always been Johnny Storm, his name has never been Johnny Blaze and in fact his sister is Sue Storm; always has been.....so....yeah....not sure where you're getting this info....
Darren Lynn Bousman to direct "Saw IV" - Feb 20, 2007 - 02:34am
Go back and watch Saw 3 again. It shows both Jigsaw and Amanda badly wounded at the end but you never actually see either of them die. My guess is Amanda's cell phone will get put to use and paramedics will arrive just in time to save Jigsaw but not Amanda. They will of course want him alive so he can stand trial. Wouldn't that be something? Saw 4 featuring Jigsaw on trial while yet another of his "games" is in progress. Maybe he will kidnap his attorney's wife or something and basically say, "Find a way to keep me out of jail or she dies." Who knows?
Green Goblin image from "Spider-Man 3" - Jan 24, 2007 - 05:35pm
Who is to say that this picture represents the "final" version of Green Goblin in Spider-man 3? That's like people seeing a pic of Peter in his "Human Spider" costume from the first one and saying, "Gahwd! Taht's nawt spYderm-an!?!?!" I believe what we're seeing is an evolution. I bet you he starts off simply meaning to use technology to get back at Spidey but will eventually carry on Norman's legacy by doning the full Goblin garb. Who is to say that the costume his father wore in part one was not also an evolution of what we may see in part 3 when Harry finally fully embraces the Goblin persona? I think Raimi is smarter than that. Let's just wait and see before we start grinding our testicles against the fences and hooting like monkies.
Nolan talks BATMAN - Aug 30, 2006 - 07:58am
"Oppurtunirty?" Every time I read an article on Cinescape it's like watching a monkey dictate poetry.
Dream Theater: "Score" Video Teaser Now Available - Aug 28, 2006 - 12:20pm
Dream Theatre is not for everyone, but personally I think they are incredible. As far as their technical work, they may possibly be the best there is. Of course that's just my opinion.
Tim Story talks FANTASTIC FOUR sequel - Aug 19, 2006 - 10:26pm
I hated Julian McMahon as Doom. His voice was not right at all. He just doesn't have the dramatic chops to pull it off. Sorry Jules.
WB President talks SUPERMAN sequel - Aug 19, 2006 - 10:20pm
Darkseid is a much more interesting character than Doomsday. Without the stigma of being "the villain that 'killed' Superman" Doomsday is otherwise very shallow. Plus Darkseid just kicks ass.
Liebesman Looks to Helm 13TH - Feb 23, 2006 - 01:25pm
How about Crystal Lake Mountain where Jason falls in love with a.....nah I just can't say it.....
New HD SILENT HILL Trailer - Feb 07, 2006 - 01:25am
This looks pretty sweet. I'm definitely checking this one out.
