Kyouichi is the head of an exclusive, prostitution business. Ayaka, one of his prized employees, may look and sound young, but her carnal techniques will make her the desire of every man!
When Kyouichi rescues Youri from a dangerous situation, she joins his business out of apprecition and escorts men to the proper rooms. But when a mysterious woman shows up and takes her to a room to see Ayaka in action, she's in for the shock of her life! The woman tells her that Kyouichi, the love of Youri's life, actually set her up to get her to work for his business!
A delicious tale of double-crossing, perversion and debauchery with an unexpected twist! The Review!
The folks at Wide Road have cranked out yet another show, this time on the world of prostitution. Audio:
For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its original language of Japanese. This is a pretty straightforward stereo mix with nothing going to the rear channels and only some minor directionality across the forward soundstage. Dialogue is nice and clear and we noticed no dropouts or distortions on either track.Video:
Originally released in 2002, the transfer here is good in terms of colors and saturation but is problematic in other areas. The main offense comes from the amount of aliasing that’s visible throughout the entire program, heightened quite a bit during panning sequences which are aplenty here. Packaging:
Appealing to two sets of crowds with the simple cover here, the foreground has the Lolita image covered with a writing shot of Ayaka and then they hit the maid fetish in the background with a shot of the real lead girl of the show, Youri. The designs are good looking here and Youri has a good amount of detail in the outfit. The back cover provides a couple of shots from the show of the various women and a centered paragraph summary of what the premise is and basically everything in the episode. After all, only the sex counts right? The discs technical information is all clearly listed along the bottom as well, though as usual the discs runtime/episode count is kept hidden. As is standard with other NuTech releases, there is no insert with this package.Menu:
The main menu utilizes the style that NuTech has really managed to master, that of moving around certain static images into place and the having animation from the episode playing in strange sections around there. The menu here has a good shot of both Youri and Ayaka again as well as some of their scenes playing behind them. Access times are nice and fast and moving about the menus is a breeze.Extras:
The only extra included here is a two minute long video gallery that shows various stills from the episodes to music.Content:

Shojyo Koakuma Kei, also titled as The Writhing Women, is one of the more recent shows from the folks at Wide Road. Their productions aren’t quite the bottom of the barrel for the most part, though they’ve had some bad ones, but they’re problematic. While often their designs are decent to quite good, they skimp on the animation itself so that you get some fairly flat looking moments at times. And it looks like their scripts are written by horny teenagers.
The opening episode to this series introduces us to Kyouichi, a smartly dressed young businessman who uses his house of prostitution to help seal deals and provide a service to clients. We initially see him finalizing a service for one particular man who likes young girls, so Kyouichi has him set up with a woman who looks quite young. This lets him play out all his fantasies, though Ayaka has her bit of fun with him as well and manages to insult him plenty during their time.
Kyouchi’s also hired a maid recently, a young woman whom he helped out of a bad situation that wanted to repay him for his kindness. She serves as a maid in the house and directs the clients to the rooms where they’ll be meeting the girls that have been picked for them. Though it’s only her first day, she’s had problems already and managed to cause Kyouchi’s lover, a curious looking redhead, to challenge her to something of a bet about who Kyouchi really likes, so as to set her in her place.
Through the use of the observation cameras in each of the rooms, she and Kyouchi watch as Youri takes on her first client, an older businessman who does anything and everything to her – repeatedly. She takes it all and does all she’s asked while waiting for Kyouchi to save her from the fate she finds herself in, truly unaware that the reason she’s indebted to him was all because Kyouchi set her up. But there’s something more to Youri, and when Kyouchi finally gets his own hands on her, he finds himself realizing that his nickname of “little devils” for the girls there may not be all that inappropriate.
With only one episode, there’s not exactly a whole heck of a lot of plot going on here since the bulk of the time is spent on introducing the characters. Well, not really, the bulk of the time is spent on poor sex animation sequences with ugly old men and cute and attractive young women. So it’s really a mixed bag of good and bad going on here. The character designs are good for the most part, though Kyouchi’s lover comes across as a bit rough, but Youri as the lead is where you can see most of the time spent. But when coupled with almost amateurish animation for the fun parts, it gets to be comical. In Summary:
Hentai dealing with prostitution is actually few and far between at least for domestic releases. While the concept is illegal here, the way it allows people to live out fantasies legally and with properly aged and consenting people is one that you’d think would be used more in anime. But since that’s not where the market is these days, it’s not too surprising. Shojyo Koakuma Kei isn’t one of the worst things Wide Road has churned out, but it definitely feels like it is something that they’ve simply churned out.
