Looks like God and I agree on this one. Neither of us want it.

Dimension Films is one step closer to bringing Number 5 alive on the silver screen. The studio has announced that they've brought in recent Disney writer program graduate Matt Lieberman to flesh out a scripted adventure for Short Circuit, the remake of the 1986 hit. Lieberman will be working with director Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks). The original's David Foster will be producing alongside Brian Mannis, John Hyde and Ryan E. Heppe.
“Dimension has had great success with the 'Spy Kids' family series which grossed over $500 million worldwide,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. “We are looking for 'Short Circuit' to be our next family franchise and are excited to be working with Matt Lieberman and Tim Hill, who has had great International success with 'Hop' and 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'."
Short Circuit will roll into theaters summer 2013.

If made kid friendly, I could see this being a good family movie. Could it possible be worse than all the other hollywood re-make crap out there now?
Wonder how many little children are going to think it is Wall-E.
I'm interested in this. I liked the originals and I have to admit I liked the 2nd one more than the 1st. This remake could go either way.
