Okay Maniacs, this one comes from Latino Review, so you know the drill. The new rumor circulating is that Harrison Ford may be too old to play Indiana Jones in the next installment and will be replaced. That creates an interesting dilemma as Ford (supposedly) negotiated two more Indiana Jones films in his Star Wars deal. Even the man who is Han Solo and Indiana Jones cannot escape time and should step down. Ford will be in late seventies by the time another Indy gets rolling. Do we want another geriatric Indy?
Here is what Latino Review reported: “Our ever reliable sources (same folks who told us about Rocket Raccoon) are informing us that while Harrison Ford might still play Indiana Jones in the next film of the franchise, the window of making that happen is getting smaller and smaller”.
“And who just might be one of the actors that the studio is looking at ? The word is that they are looking at several but Bradley Cooper is at the top of the list”.
The other rumor is that Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Walking Dead) might be taking a crack at the script. Which, if memory serves me, Darabont had Young Indiana Jones experience as well as took a shot at franchise during the wasted years between 1989 and 2008.
The James Bond comparison is obvious. Sean Connery walked away from the franchise, twice, because age was catching up to him. Perhaps it is time to pass the torch. I am not saying Bradley Cooper is the man to do so, but he does has Hollywood’s attention right now (plus he is in bed with the mouse).
What needs to be done if the next Indiana Jones does not have Harrison Ford in it:
Sound off below Maniacs, what do you want in another Indiana Jones?
UPDATE: Frank Marshall has chimed in on Twitter about the subject!
Due to the ridiculous rumors that keep popping up, like agents pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news.— Frank Marshall (@LeDoctor) March 26, 2014
