Show Your Expertise in Mania Properties!

Changes are on the way and you can help!

By Mania     March 24, 2008

"Making this a Better World for Maniacs!"
© Mania

Back in early February, we published a survey letting you readers know that there's some exciting new features on the horizon for our Mania realm. One such new feature---thanks in large part to your feedback---is a new Properties section that you, our loyal readers, will be able to lead straight from your computers.

The new feature will be where you Maniacs can show your expertise on all sorts of franchise that cover the genre we know best. For example, we would have a Star Trek property page that would have episode guides, characters, news, etc. Same examples for Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, James Bond and any other highly popular franchise you can think of. Those are obviously the big ones...

It's not just film franchises but any number of other mediums.
Properties could be from TV, Movies, Video Games like Halo or GTA, Anime, Manga and Books. You name it, we'll cover it here at Mania in the new section.

What we need is you!

A month or so ago, in one of our various Star Trek articles, we had a conversation going in the feedback about the difference between a Trekker, a Trekkie, and well,  a step beyond both. That's what this announcement is all about. If you consider yourself an expert for a high profile genre project in any number of mediums, it's time to put your knowledge to the test!

We're looking for "head experts" to lead these different properties in much the same fashion as About.com (for everything) and Wookiepedia (for something specific). Click on those links to get an idea on what's coming soon to Mania!

If you think of a great property and have the know-how to lead it, feel free to email us at chip@mania.com.

As always, we want to hear from you on what property pages we should build out first. We'll start out with the big franchises but we're looking to expand in endless amounts of topics down the road. Drop some feedback down below and thanks for helping make Mania the place for Genre Entertainment!

Sounds good...Now all you guys have to do is fix the problems between you and answer bag and all will be well...First off clicking on a question here at mania most of the time does not take you answer bag and then when you do get to answer bag and answer a question and submit it, it asks you to sign in or sign up and I am both of those, singed in and signed up...This happens to me at least 80% of the time and is ridiculous to say the least...I am glad you introduced it to me through this site and I feel it will become an addiction for me...If I have too I will bypass this site and go directly to answer bags site to get my fill if you will...

Grats mania for willing to try new things. I'm content with the blogs following the article but anything extra makes it more interesting. Only thing I would like to see added is your posting of news...you seem to be late on a lot of issues or miss things all together whether its entertainment news or TV show reviews...but I realize its a work in progress.

How about trying this ... turn off those GD-MF-PoS Full page Pop-up windows!

Preach it, galaga. In the few clicks that it has taken me to log in and start typing this message, Mania saw fit to launch THREE of those *&^%$ing pop ups. Why on earth would I continue to come to this site and participate if I know Mania is deliberately trying to make my experience as unpleasant as possible?

I am not seeing multiple pops, what I have seen is 1 pop every 24 hours. So if you are getting multipe pops that is not us, it might be spyware, etc...Bottom line though is that we just cleaned out all the code to make sure there are NO pops for now, if you see one let me know directly at chip@mania.com How is that for service Bernini? Quite pleasant I would hope....

Just for that I clicked on the link for the Hair Club for Man and the Ebay link at the top. Thanks for no pop-ups!

Chip, it's nice to see that someone is listening so I'll put my next hiatus on hiatus. I'll admit, it's better than it once was, but I do regular spyware checks and I haven't found anything, and I only get the windows when I visit Mania.

chip, thanks for clearing the code and turning the pop-ups off. So long as "for now" becomes "forever," I'll be happy. I understand the need for advertising revenue, and I understand the attraction of the pop up in the online interactive space. But pop-ups are so insidious, so debilitating to the user experience, they are reason for me to not visit a site if I know I'm going to get them. Multiples or no, they are a pox upon all sites. As for spyware, I'm on a Mac. I may be uninformed about this, but to my knowledge I've never had a problem with spyware. Mania is the only site that hammered me with repeated identical pop-ups every time I clicked on a link or clicked on an info field. My frustration level was nearing atomic.

i have never had a pop up from mania. i use spybot search and destroy, i also use spyware blaster, they are both free just google them and enjoy. i will say though pop ups are EVIL, you can squeeze all the ads you want on a page as long as there are no pop ups and i wouldn't care.

Let me the first to suggest you cover the video game GOD OF WAR. We need to start a petition to get that made into a movie. I mean Streetfighter is getting a sequel for Pete's sake. Plus you got all the Uwe Boll crap. If there ever was a game that needs, no begging to be made into a film it's God of War. So let's start with adding God of War to the things you should cover and the petition to get a movie made starring Gerald Butler as Kratos aka The Ghost of Sparta and directed by Mel Gibson. But the petition should be for a trilogy with an option for a prequel entitled Chains of Olympus. ----------------------------------------------- Another series you can cover is the NBA LIve or NBA2k series and just have a page dedicated to the best bball player to walk the EArth. The only man to win without a legit lowpost threat on his team, 6 rings, 6 finals mvp, multiple mvps, defense player of the year, all nba team, all nba defensive teams, olympic gold, ncaa champion, multiple all star, all star mvp, league scoring leader, rookie of the year. You know who it is *light's go out**allan parson's project music starts playing* From North Carolina.......at guard,.........6'6..............Michaeelllllllllll..............Jordaaaannnnnnnnnnn!!
